Just thought I'd show my progress on my triplane. Still haven't decided on a color scheme yet, so feel free to suggest some.

Is that an Aerodrome triplane? What is the wingspan? I just finished the 24"ws version and am about to start the 35"ws version of Aerodrome's tripe. There are LOTS of tripes to model. I think Scalercflyer probably has the largest library of different schemes. Just don't make it red! Martin (Scalercflyer) hates red tripes!!! He has links to tons of sites though! Nice build and welcome to WWI Era. There are alot of great guys on here to help you if you need it. My avatar is the 24"ws tripe. Steve.

Mine is done in the Werner Voss scheme by the way. Steve

It's the 35''ws Aerodrome kit, and it definately won't be red!

What about the leading edges? Are you gonna use rectangular stock and shape them or did you find some pre-shaped stock? Did the spars come in the kit? I haven't looked at mine but I know that the kit needed some wood added. It is a short kit after all. Steve.

Sure looks like a lot of wood. This is what has put me off DR. 1's so far. What is the projected weight all up? Ernst Udet flew a pretty wild looking
ship. The inexpensive Osprey book has a lot of good, scale color drawings too.
Is this going to be a FF er? Tell us all about it! Who sells them is a germane
question. Thanks for showing us.:cool::D

Not sure about the leading edges although I'd prefer to use pre-shaped, what did you do for yours WW1 Ace? And the spars didn't come with the kit. I think I'm going to do Fritz Loerzer's plane but does anyone have a picture of the top wing? Oh, and what's a FF er?

I just shape square stock into a curved leading edge. I'll look and see if I have a picture of Loerzer's top wing. Steve

Welcome to the WWI thread Patrick! :) You will find many WWI enthusiasts here. By offering each other advice and help, each of us has a small part in each others projects. Everyone here helps each other,(we're just like family). Help for your project is available for the asking. We all have lots of fun here on the thread as you will find out. One of my favorite things to do is to bust on Texican triplane pilots :D (Californian triplane pilots are next :p), as you will get to see. Listed below are some nice sites to help you select the right camo scheme for your tripe (thank you for not painting it RED!). Steve, it's a good thing for you that you didn't paint that little tripe red! Chris, you're next Pal! All the Best, Martin
