Hi,

I am considering a Wing Dragon 4 (http://www.hobby-lobby.com/wingdragon4.htm) for my second plane and was wondering if there are any fellow Canadians who have bought this plane. I am trying to avoid possible duties, taxes, and all the other problems associated with importing from the states. I can't seem to find a LHS or Canadian on-line retailer who sells this plane though. I live in Guelph ON, and can drive to neighbouring cities but I can't find any hobby shops who sell this plane. So if anyone has bought a WD4 in Canada, your help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Sorry but not knowing Canada I can only advise a little.

Have you tried doing a search of something like on-line Yellow Pages the director services, that shows a few model and hobby shops in the Ontario region. Or even do a Google search on 'RC model aircraft Canada'.

I had a quick try myself and although I found some model shops, none listed the Wing Dragon.

So the next thing is, does it have to be the WD?

There are quite a few other good trainer models out there.

Here's a couple of shops I came across -

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the advice! I pretty much encountered the same problem you found. While I could find some Canadian hobby shops, both on-line and "local", none carried the WD4. Any good aileron trainer that has swappable parts and under $200 will really do for me, I have just read good things about the WD4, which is why I have been trying to track it down in Canada. I still have some mastering to do on the 3-ch Firebird Phantom I'm currently flying at the moment though. So I can afford to look around for other RTF planes. Thanks again for the reply!

after all the work that I have done building and rebuilding my WingDragon I would recommend buyin the parts and assembling it yourself. basically all of the electronics in it are crap and you going to pay for them twice if you get the RTF version.

But man is it a sweet flyer once you get her up. I had a great time yesterday, once I had her up at altitude (~200ft) I was able to cut power and glide for a really long time, although I didn't time it, I would guess that it was easily 3 minutes or more of soar and easy swooping turns. No I have install an APC 7x5e SF prop which looks like a much better prop than the GWS 7035 that I had on yesterday, can't wait to see how she acts now.

Sorry I couldn't help with the Canada part.

I bought my WD 4 from Flight Craft in Kitchener. Last time I was there they still had a couple left. Call them or check them out.
