Attached are a couple of glow planes that I have been having a ball with. This is where the fun with electrics really continues. In the making right now is a Kyosho SQ series DF F-16, with over a kilowatt going into it, and a Rascal 40, that will be able to hover with ease.

Edd what power systems (motors/gearing/batteries/amps) are you using on these?

TwinStar - Fun 600-17's, Phoenix 60's, Graupner 9x6 (counter-rotating), Kokam 2000 15c in 3S2P per motor. It honks...over a kilowatt to the props. WOT now is 53 amperes per motor, but it will increase (at WOT) as I am changing to 9x7 for better mid-range speed and duration.
Ultra Stick - Fun600-17, Aveox 3.7:1 g.b., APC 13x8 Sport, Jazz 55, Kokam 3200mA 20c in 6S1P configuration. Again, over a kilowatt to the prop. It will do anything in the air you can tell it to, quietly...
On the bench, Kyosho DF F-16 (SQ series), with a Midi-fan and Fun 600-18, another +Kw in the air, and a Rascal 40 awaiting a Tango 45-08.
This is where the fun is at!

Sounds like a deal to me. I'll put them on the bench and shoot some digipix of the SuperWhatt Meter and the Medusa Research PowerPlus unit, with WOT. Both planes have been flying since May, with a lot of interest from both the glow and "sparkers" end of the members. I am adding a video downlink, with the CCD camera/transmitter in the nose of the TwinStar. Planning on flying at least four e-conversions at the 2005 NEAT Fair - last year was a real mess for most of us there.

Those are cool!!! Someday when I get rich I want to do something like that. Right now though I'll just have to stick to parkflyers.

Cool Edd :). I know neat was a wash (pun intended) for you guys last year. I hope you all get some better weather this year. We had wind SEFF this year, so hopefully next year we will catch a break as well!

Thanks for your input. I also fly the GWS A-10, B-2, Wattage S3-A, Kyosho Cessna 180, UltraFly Cessna 182, Wattage 2000-5 Mirage, and my true favorite, the Great Planes Slinger. All have been converted over to brushless and Li-Poly, with the batteries (all Kokam at present) easily swapped in any of the airframes.
I like the strength and internal size of the glow/gas aircraft, which lend themselves to easy placement of batteries, ESC's, receiver, and on-board goodies that I try from time to time.
