I have several packs of nimh 6 and 8 cells and wondered what charge rate will not damage cells and yet charge in shortest time. I have been using C1 rates so far. I used to charge nicad 1200's at 3 and 4 amps but that was a different ball game. I am using a Hobbico field charger that is rate adjustable. I have had good performance so far and don't want to smoke the batteries but if they will stand higher rates it would keep me from buying fewer packs. It's the fixed income thing ya know. Thanks, Dan

Depends on the quality of the cells.
I usually charge using the auto on the Schulze,Sanyos seem to go to max.at 5.6 amps. The yellow packs(no name) which came with My sons cheapo rc toys wont auto less than 1C.
I would imagine the Schulze is testing the internal resistance and charging accordingly.
Ie. Quality-high C charge,low quality-lowC charge.........

Most Ni-mh which are sold as flight packs for planes will handle 2c. 1c is safest if your unsure of the quality.
