Hi Folks

Just thought i would share with you my new project of a scale SE5a.
If I get any interest I might decide to produce a range of kits.
Please pass on your opinions good or bad!

The first thing was to choose a subject and draw up a plan.

I have chosen the SE5a as a good start. 32" wingspan

Here are the basic fuselage components cut from 6mm Depron. I intend to get these laser cut.

I have decided to make all the curvy bits mouldings. This is the plug for the Fuselage top-deck. I have made it from MDF carved to shape and coated in Epoxy. The grey areas are car body filler applied over tape to simulate panel lines and fabric covering.

This is the first pull off the plugs. The material is 1mm Styrene. I am very pleased with the results!

Now looking like a flying machine!
The bottom wing is flat bottomed, so you can easily add Ailerons. Top wing has undercamber. This is done by cutting a thin groove down the length of the wing and gluing the joint closed. I have reinforced the leading and trailing edges with carbon rod. the cabanes will also be carbon but I didn't have anough so used bamboo!

Another view of the progress so far. I have weighed all the components including 1200 3 cell Lipo, motor, servos, receiver, prop, esc. Just need to add pilot, Wheels and paint. weight so far is 14oz.
I would like to use a 2 cell Lipo, so budget chargers can charge 2 packs at once.
