CD-ROM powered GWS E-Starter with Nikon CP 3700 on board. 7.58 long and ~50 MB. 640x480 30 fps.

The sun is gone for a few months so the lighting isn't ideal, but it did produce a nice effect at the horizon.

What brand floats?

tahustvedt
12-23-2005, 10:36 PM
They are GWS floats. It weighs 600 g with floats, camera and 830 mAh 3S battery on board, ready to fly. I have flown it with a 1700 mAh battery too, at 660 g and it was not a problem.

Great videos!

What's your setup on your E-Starter, specifically which motor? Also, how do you attach the camera?

Thanks for sharing.

Also, what time of day are you shooting the videos?

The two first videos were shot at noon in december. The two new videos were shot right after work a couple of days ago, at ~16.30.

the motor was made using Regular GoBrushless 22,7 mm parts and N50 magnets. I wound it to Y 18 or 19 turns (I forget which) of 0,5 mm wire. It's driving a GWX 8040 prop powered by an Apogee 830 3S battery.

The camera just sits inside the fuselage in a cavity I cut out. The lens protrudes through a hole in the side of the fuselage when it's turned on.

More. This one was shot near my house. You can see my house from up there.

Another one from today. Pointed the camera forward and hung it under the fuselage. It flew like a brick like this but the video looks cool. http://enrarot.net/videos/e-starter/e-starter15.wmv

Here's a new video and some pictures from today:
http://www.enrarot.net/videos/e-starter/e-starter17.wmv

It was very gusty at altitude today so I was unable to take good pictures from high up. Will try again later. The scenery is about as ugly as it gets now. The ground is brown, the snow is dirty and the trees have no leaves yet. :)

A few more videos I shot yesterday and today. The motor died yesterday at high altitute and on the way down I burned the ESC so I had to make a new motor and install a new ESC before flying today.

Cool video Nitro! I thought I recognized the SEFSD field and Fiesta Island, but had to read the credits to be sure. You look to be an experienced pilot by the manuvers you were doing. Good Job!

I was not the pilot, that was Pedro Brantuas! It was just my camera and my computer.

His plane, his superb skills.

I can wring one out with the best of them, but that was not me on the sticks.

Video's not bad. Here's a tip though -

Cut out the first 1:36 minutes
at my rate ($1000/hr) that was a waste of $22.66.
