RCCA 3696 combat-Fort Worth, TX

This past March 29th, about 10 pilots got together for 3696 combat at Fort worth, TX. There were also a large gathering of pilots for SSC, 2548, and Open B classes, but these are still primarily glow classes, and very few electrics compete.

3696 was designed to offer a low cast entry scale class, and is primarily for electric powered aircraft. Rules are pretty simple-wing area, wieght specs, and power figures are all limited to promote a more even playing field.

Here are a few pics, I'll get some more posted as I upload and edit them.

Power limitations are a 9x6 APC glow prop limited to 9000rpm. This provides good performance for the 28 oz warbirds. Wing area is limited to 250sq/in, and wingspan to 36". Twin models are allowed a greater wingspan(45") and allowed wing area to 350sq/in. Twin power systems are currently limited to 8x6 props at 9000rpm for the minimum 35oz planes.

These planes are heavily built, and will typically destroy anything they come into contact with in the air. There were 2 midair's that I recall, but this is substantially less than what occurs with other combat classes, with typically less damage. Standard RCCA streamers are used, and scored accordingly.

These planes are a lot of fun to fly and combat with, and they hold up real well, my Brewster has seen 4 midairs and a couple of unplanned high-speed landings, and in most cases was in the air again with an hour or 2 shop time, sometimes much less.
That Mig flew quite nicely, BTW..

Thanks Cash, it was great fun! Just a little tweaking on it and it'll be a great plane. Problem is I want it, and a zero, and an FW-190, and an I-16, and a Do-335....argh, too many....
