View Full Version : Blade Grip link busts in Flight?

Anyone every have a link bust in flight? I was flying my BH 450 and lost all lift about 20 ft up. Full power didn't do a thing other then race the motor. Ended up busting one landing skid. Only other damage I could find was a busted plastic link to one of the rotor grips. So I am assuming that the link busted while in the air and not in the crash. Luckily I came down in tall grass which acted like a cushion.

Good thing the crash wasnt worse! I always check my links periodically for slop. Any loose ones should be replaced immediately. It sucks when something like that causes a crash and lots of $ in damage.

Of course it's going to "bust in flight", every time, because that is when it is under stress from flight loads.
The only way to break it when not flying is by smashing it in the car door.
It was probably worn out or loose like eddo22 said, and you didn't inspect it to notice.
