As we were headed over to the beach today a boatload of emergency services vehicles were headed down the boulevard. When we got across the dunes we saw a bunch more beach patrol type vehicles making their way down the beach as well.

A couple hours later a bunch of them were coming back up the beach headed for the vehicle opening so the big flat bed with the crashed airplane on it couold get off the beach.

Turns out they were all headed down to a Banner tow Cub that crashed on the beach. It hit the water just at the wave break line. The pilot appears to have survived with minor injuries and no one on the beach or in the water was injured.

Could have been a lot worse. This happened less than a mile from our condo and beach spot. I've got a couple pics of the plane on the flatbed I'll post up when my sis gets back with the camera.

Not much to salvage.

The motor will require a full overhaul. I bet you could buy a replacement, for how much that's going to cost.

It pays to have the camera with you at all times, good pics!

On another note, I never figured Bill for a Timeshare guy when he has that camper sitting in his driveway collecting cobwebs :D

Lockout on the DX7 most likely.

We rented a 7 bedroom condo on the beach for my parents, both my sisters and their kids, my brothers boy, and my family. 15 of us staying here for the week.

I haven't been able to fly any bnecause of the wind but have had fun none the less.

Bill,

Did the subsequent investigation show a particular Monkey was piloting the plane when it crashed? :)

Well. I hope he's alright. If so, he's fired lol probably using his binoculars scoping out the chicks on the beach :Q

He did survive the crash with minor injuries. Witnesses said he crawled out of the surf and was sitting on the beach when the emergency responders showed up.

I can only imagine what he was thinking sitting there.::o

He was probably thinking...

"if those people on the beach had just moved out of the way, I could have safely made my emergency landing on the sand..."

Lets guess,

I'm fired.
My insurance rates are going to skyrocket.
Wait till my wife/mom finds out. Then I'm really dead.
When will the nice man from the FAA be here to help me?
