I have a f-86 that weighs 1.6 with no battery.Withe battery 1.13.Use a Longmax 2250 3s 25c battery is a bit to heavy but its floan before but every thing flutered and striped the servos and smashed the front.I put new servos on a JR digital servo for elevator.I have my doughts.

My son spent hours yesterday in the garage putting this F-86 back together. I'll give him credit, for a 10 year old he's a pretty good plane repairer and scratch builder. We have flown this bird successfully before. And it flew acceptably with a 2250ma 3s li-po. It's a Slinger wing , scratch built foam horz. stab and elevator and balsa vert. fin. The fan tube fuse. is in fact Pringles containers . The EDF is a Wattage 400 -6 bladed unit upgraded to a brushless 4200 Kv inrunner that fit. Keep in mind a 10 year old kid Gorilla glued this thing together. Without asking for any help. Here's the pics. Cracks me up that he says "He has his doubts".He's been flying a F-86 on GP Real Flight-4 Sim to prepair for remaiden. LOL

Well I give up (kicking dirt with shoe) upstaged by a 10 year old. LOL
Better change his name to Ziroli.

LOL I'll tell him but he'll prob. read this himself. We've decided to fly it on 4 cells this time and it does seem to have more giddyup with em. The funniest thing about flying it last time was on 2nd launch I bounced it off the ground and and gave it the gas and off it flew no harm done. Try that with a proped belly slider. LOL

Is that a "HOBBY PEOPLE" sabre ? If so has it ever flown? I'm asking because I had one changed to a mega mtr. unflyable. This is my favorite plane.

Hey now,
I like it. Pringles can fuse, Slinger wing, pretty cool. I use Pringles cans in EDF often, my FunJet jet uses them for it's ducting.
We have a guy at our field who often converts slope wings to EDFs almost like this, they fly a bit slow but they generally fly well.
His latest is a smaller one using twin 40mm fans and Faigao 12mm motors. Goes pretty well. On this one he didn't bother with hooking up elevators etc he just went with elevons like a stock slope wing. It is very controlable this way. You may try it out and save a few grammes on the extra servos and control rods.
Good luck dude, great start!
My Fun Jet uses a Mega 1615-2 motor and WeMoTec mini fan. The ducting is old Pringles cans. This one has been clocked at 99.9mph up wind!

Thanks Elf it was my dads idea. Are there cheater holes on the bottom of your intake ? Or are those little slits the only intake openings? They say an unobtructed fan tube gives better flow.

Man I tell ya that's gotta be the most scale wing and intake I've ever seen on an F86. :D
Cardboard is actually a very useful EDF material.
I built a Mig21 from cardboard rocket tubes. Still haven't got it flying, as it needs more power than what I tried in it. The rocket tubes have been good for various things such as using the lighter grade cardboard for thrust tubes.
I've used foam wine bottle packaging too for my FW250. It was actually a very good grade foam.

The F-86 staled just after takeoff and hit the ground nose first.the bodybroke in the middle the fan blade broke on impact. The battery did not get damaged.

Hey now,
'Cheater holes'? No, no cheater holes, the ones on top are the only ones.
You need to keep the total area of the influx the same as the area of the fan shroud. If you look closely you'll see that 'those little slits' are pretty large, they add up to the same area as my WeMoTec 70mm fan.
It seems to much intake area is in some ways worse than too little. Also you don't want to restrict the eflux hole (tail pipe) too much. Mine is 89% of the total duct area and that seems close to ideal.
I didn't want to have any openings on the underside of the model, I didn't want to pick up grass and dirt on landings.

Hey now,
Don't let it get you down dude, we all crash.
It's part of the game of scratch building, pick up the pieces, get another impeller and try again. *Why* did it stall? Power? Incedence? Cross wind? Too strong a chuck?
I can't wait to see mark two, get buildin' kiddo...

Sounds like where I'm at with my cardboard sheeted Mig. It has a spring loaded nose release which works from the radar cone, which is basically wire that gets under the latches to unlatch them when pushed in. I had to put all that latching back together after the last trial, and have sleved it since. Get tired of fixing things, along with breaking a fan too in the process.
My cheater's huge and still dosen't seem to do it. I think it need a liner to clean up the outlet ducting, with all the lightening holes cut in it on the inside surface.
Looking at the your Sabre pics again, my offhand guess is that you may have trouble getting the cg far enough forward, given the wing location. That's the tough part of these scratchbuilds, trying to determine where everything should be located when we design them. I've found the wing sweep to push the cg back less than the calcs would show, on these swept wings.

Hey that Sabre looked like she woulda flown too bad she stalled.
hey Bill you should do like a throttle mix where you have a exhaust cone which is controled by a servo and some wire to open and close to squeeze the air going out.
