New EAM He-162 Salamander EDF for the Minifan 480 this is the first pull on the fuse and nacelle !!! the production units will probably come with the nacelle unjoined or we may do a hatch like the ME p.1101. The Carbon will also be relocated. Panel lines came out great on the fuse and nacelle. 2oz + 6oz layup + carbon, no structurally worthless heavy gel coat to hide our mistakes just rock solid aerospace grade U.S. handcrafted Fiberglass made in Texas. Combined weight 7oz target AUW RTF 32oz http://static.rcgroups.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif wings are done tailfeathers and canopy almost complete. More soon. :D

The FVK Salamander is a classic. They stopped making it five years ago. If this kit is produced again believe me you will want one. I know I have the original and it is the pride of my fleet.

Didn't I read somewhere that you were also going to kit a 90mm fan version?

easytiger,
If you're talking to me... I'm doing a massive overhaul of my site. Some of the links I had were deadends. Those that weren't dead long longer meant much so I'm "starting over". I'll add a few more as I go, but more oriented toward RC.

Over the years Dave has also put out some beautiful kits. As far as web pictures I would say 50% of the venders use pictures from another web site.
My money is on the Salamander from Dave

You got it, people who haven't tried to coordinate kits like this have no idea what all is involved. I have really tried to keep everything for these kits made within a 50 mile radius of my shop. Everything is handcrafted here in Texas I finally got tired of sending our money overseas and having to give 10% minumum margin for inbound freight. Subcontractors can be a great asset or a pain in the behind but they are local guys with families so I endeavor to persevere. I should see the final hard part for the turtledeck tommorrow. You will see some posts for a building thread very soon :D

Yes 57" WS, plug is done, canopy is done, wing and tail is done, Nacelle is the kicker I am making it with a pre done hatch so a little more tooling involved. But it is in process, just takes time.

Hi guys,
Just received the kit from Dave today. I took some bad pictures of some beautiful glass work. You can see what's going in it. Before I start I'm just gonna sit and decide where to start.

Just a word on those who expect really nice crafted glass stuff like this at GWS prices: If it was possible, someone would be doing it. Nobody is doing it, because it is not possible.

Bill is right you get what you pay for and the glass work on this is beautiful. Dave might post a projected price soon.

I often see posts complaining about the cost of quality stuff, and find some things interesting:
First, the "out of price range" is a moot point. I've actually searched these people's posts in the past, to see that they always own a number of planes, such as low cost foam profile stuff. The could simply buy 1 incredible HE162, insted of a 3 examples of flat foam junk.
Second, the insults are really compliments in disguise. What they really mean is that they really like the planes, but are upset that they are not at bargain basement prices, thus insults. These individuals have no little or no knowledge and/or appreciation of the difference in quality and production costs. Informing them of the robustness is therefore a pointless statement. They've decided that since you won't give the planes to them almost for free, that you're a bad guy.
Third, they seem to have made an unwritten law that nobody is allowed to use the forums to promote something unless its very low dollar. Otherwise you get their flak, in a form of spite.
Here's what they really want you to do to make them happy, and be a "good guy" or "Robin Hood" in their eyes: You would need to make a living out of robbing banks, instead of producing models, so that you can now manufacture and give the planes away to them for free, and still be able to eat. Proving once again that the solutions needed to make everybody happy are not always practical.

You guys do to. I have you website in my favorites and stop by regularly. I've liked you stuff for quite a while, as I am a Luft and Luft 46' fanatic. I've scratch built several ME262s, an AR234, and numerous prop Lufts. Probably will have one of your planes someday. ME P1110 and Salamander are high on the list. If I didn't have the scratch building skills that I do, I would definitely have one of your planes. As a fellow fan of these undermodeled planes, I know its not all about the money, or you would have a line like GWS.
