Hey, I was wondering if anyone else is using a mat cutter for matting pictures when framing? I'm new to this foam stuff and discovered this..
I bought a cheap X-ato mat cutter and decided to use it last night and found it a great tool for depron... I was cutting some 6mm depron and it made great square cuts.. But I switched to a 45 degree cut and set it up so that the blade depth left about a 1mm of uncut foam.. Drew a line, cut one side , turned it around and cut the other (only cuts one way).. Worked the v of depron back and forth till I could remove it... Then I ran some tape on the opposite side and worked it some, glued it, and had a pefect 90!!!! Probably work geat for cutting control surfaces for hinging.. Make a square fuselage no problem.. Just thought it may help..

Great idea. Hobby Lobby craft stores carry them.

Heres a fuselage I built with the mat cutter... No flex anyway!!! ( depron will break before any twisting occurs!!)
