Here is my TM. I tried it stock with the 380 and it would fly OK ........ but I put in a E-Flight, Park 370, Brushless 5400KV, into the stock gearbox and WOW ... Want to verticle? How high? I went out of sight and had 8 eyes as a back up. Chopped power, nosed over for a second and then started in a slow, or so I thought, right turn. When I saw it , after 6 eyes saw it first, it sure was not where I thought it should be. This plane will preform most 3D moves, I am still trying to get it to flat spin. Anyway, I have not seen or read to much on this plane and just wanted to share my fun.

This plane is a hoot to fly. I have maxed the throws wide open!! The alerions are almost 45 degrees to the wing on full, high rates.

Make sure to use good epoxy and not the GWS glue. Do not be shy on the wings ......... they will flex and seperate  But no problem...just chop the throttle and SLOWLY fly her home.

I also used a ply former instead of the foam one to hold the wheels in. I am going to add another CF rod to the top wing and add some type of very thin CF rods to add wing support.

yee ha!
Tonight I went flying for the first time in months. I started with a quick flight with my original, now fairly ratty GWS Moth to get the old brain working. About a 3 minute flight.

Then as the sun set I had my first flight with my 3D Moth. What a great machine! Take off at 2/3 throttle in less than 10 feet . Cruise at about 1/3 throttle, scream along at 2/3 throttle and a rocket ship at full throttle.

Best of all it flies abaout as slow as the original Moth getting me back and stable after a wrong thumb move and second best, it the other end, it has enough power to allow me to power out of difficulties when needed.

6 minutes of flight, about 360 MAH out of a 1050 MAH battery used. A mix of "sprited" and sedate flying but no 3D stuff. I'm just not there yet.

Too much fun!

Wow, the "Search" function here leaves a lot to be desired: it took me 3 times searching "GWS Tiger Moth 3D" to find this thread, and it was about #15 from the top.
Oh well, I am starting construction of one of these also.
I have a geared HiMaxx 2015/ 4100 to install on mine, as well as 3 cell, 1500 Kokam battery pack.

In addition to power changes, I am installing a 1/8" (or 3 mm?) diameter carbon fiber tube for the lower wing spar, rather than the included 'fiberglass stick'. My tube is 7" longer, meaning it will extend to the Depron cabane struts and beyond, yet it weighs 1.5 grams less. I thought it seemed a bad idea to end the spar before it reaches the cabanes (as plans call for), as it would have allowed all upper wing lift forces to be supported by an un-sparred section, without this mod.

Will keep you updated, as progress continues.

Just picked one of these up from bphobbies (formerly balsa products) at a good price, and was looking around at the different mods people do to the other Moths...not much info specifically about the 3d/350 though. Seems like quite a different plane what with the flat wings and ailerons. I am really looking forward to getting her built.

I plan on flying with the stock power for a while, realizing it's not truly overpowered enough...but it will be good enough for a 3d noob like myself...I'm actually just more interested in having an cool-looking aerobatic bipe. (Love the red stripes on the underside in pics above - I will definitely nick that idea!) I also plan on reinforcing the crap out of it; split cf tube inside the landing gear mount, light ply for the cabane struts, cf tube on bottom of both wings, wires, and anything else I see that makes sense without adding too much weight. Do any of you TM3d fliers have any other tips? What about the control surface hinging? I think I would like full-length taped hinges, those little hinge tabs in the kit look weak.
