I can't jump back into this darn hobby!
6 or 7 months ago I bought myself a bicycle just for those off days when I had some spare time and felt like a pootle around. 6 or so months later I have NO spare time BECAUSE of my cycling addiction! I have no idea how much I've spent on this hobby! About 2 months ago I got myself a NEW bike because my 'old' one (5 months old at the time)... actually... I have no idea why I got the new bike!

I've tried combining the two hobbies. As in I would keep a heli in a backpack and if I happen to drop by a nice field I'll go for a quick crack at flying. But I never got around to this because of the weird looks I'd get from other fliers rocking up to the field and seeing a lycra clad idiot standing there flying a heli!
Not to mention if I'm kitted out with team clothing it's a sin to the cycling gods to wear a backpack (oh yes cycling has many unwritten laws). For example, the wings of the sunglasses MUST be on the outside of the helmet straps.

But really. In the end I guess it's because of the high cost of RC these days for us aussies. For cyclists, we have the joys of ordering from the UK as the pound vs aud is lower than ever. Ends up being half the price at the LBS (same as LHS for you guys). But for us aussie RC'ers to get super cheap stuff we need to order from unitedhobbies/hobbycity/hobbykong/hobbyking.com which sell in US dollars so it ends up costing a great fortune. And even if we did order batteries/planes etc from the UK it would probably cost the same as the LHS. Also, availability is a problem with us Aussies as we can really only order from the hong kong mainly due to MANY US stores not shipping internationaly

Sorry for the vent guys but I would love to get back into this hobby but really am finding it hard. Any suggestions? ;-)

I found it difficult to maintain the toy airplane interest and the cycling interest also.
One of these has to suffer.

i just recently started a cycling addiction, mostly because with rc i've been putting on pounds and we havent had a calm day to fly in almost 2 months. hopefully i can balance the two.

tip from a cyclist to another: Don't even consider buying a namey bike like a Pinarello. You will find a cheaper bike with the same components but end up buying the namey bike because of the bling factor... I found out the hard way :red:
