I recently sent an email to Great Planes letting them know how much a Nieuport 11 or 17 added to their WW1 hangar would be appreciated. I received an email back from Kevin Burner, the Sr. Mgr. Airplane Div. Asking me to be patient . He said I would be very happy in about TWO months.!!!! Has anyone else heard anything? B

Darn you! I keep telling myself that I'm done with building/buying for a while (perhaps a year) after my SE5 is done. (need a break for other things). I am not sure I could just look at one of those 11's or 17's on the shelf, and not get it. It's hard enough with that Camel and SPAD.

Must be a 12 step program somewhere, my garage ceiling is running out of room.

There is NO way Im going to be able to resist getting at least one.I recently rebuilt the Electrifly DV11 I crashed. I has such a good time recovering and painting it I ordered another one to do in another paint scheme. My hangar is in my basement but now I have a Nieuport 17 hanging on my porch celing as the basement is full and Im still not done with the SE5a. Let me know if you find a 12 step program somewhere.Im shure my wife will sign me up.B;-)

I am not sure a 12 step program would work for us. We would just tell each other where to find another nice WW1 model to buy.

2. Came to believe that a plane better than mine can restore me to sanity.
3. Made a decision to turn my life and paycheck over to the care of my LHS.
4. Made a searching and fearless inventory of my workshop.
5. Admitted to my club mates and on the forums the exact nature of our errors.
6. Were entirely ready to have friends remove all these defects of our flying habits.
7. Humbly asked for help to resolve our short landings.
8. Made a list of all aircraft we had crashed, and became willing to repair them all.
9. Made repairs to such aircraft wherever possible, except when to do so would hurt new projects.
10. Continued to take inventory and when needed promptly purchased parts.
11. Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with all things RC and the power to carry them aloft.
12. Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these steps, carry this message to other hobbyists, and continue to add to our fleet and friends.

You are so wise DBCISCO, thats almost ZEN like .LOL! Just one thing to add,(13) If the first 12 steps fail, remember as long as its a different color than the ones you already have its OK to buy just one more. B

It is ok to buy the same color as long as you repaint ASAP.

Buying each new one isn't bad , its the buying of the second one for backup in case you crash the first one , thats a sickness .

Also buying 2 at a time like I did the Nieuport 17. Not for backup but going to repaint one.

Looks good. I'm saving now. I like the scheme. Always loved silver planes, and the red will help with orientation I hope.

Put the water on those big planes and shrink them down to model size.

I am more fond of the smaller ones. I will eventually turn my Avion into a scale looking plane, if the darn thing ever breaks.

Like this maybe?

I am working now on making a decal to use on the fuselage to make the scales. It will fit the Eflite Nieuport. Maybe you could scale it up or down to fit one of your planes if you want a flying fish. I think the wings and tail will be easy to paint.

Here is the side of the fuselage. The file I am using is bmp, I changed to JPG for here. I will hand paint forward of this. Will make an eye decal. The top of the fuselage where the head rest is will be hand painted. I will make a decal to match the side for the top of the fuselage from the head rest aft.

Wonder what color the scales were on the plane? I picked light blue, maybe it should have more green in it. By looking at the wheels in the photo I can tell the color is not dark blue, the wheels are red, white, and blue in the center. The blue on the wheels is much darker than the scales.

That is a great looking decal!! That will be one crazy looking airplane!! Steve

Here is the finished decal. The decal is lined with the center of the fuselage top aft of the head rest then the bottom and the cockpit is trim to fit. The eye is put on the forward fuselage behind the cowl. The blue circles are put on the top of the head rest. It is too long for letter paper so will need longer decal paper or cut and splice. It also needs flipped and printed for the other side.

Fuselage is finished for my Nieuport 17 Flying Fish. I may have the eye too big for scale but I am hoping it can be see when flying. All the black forward of the cockpit is painted and the teeth are pieces of white sticker. The teeth were the hardest part to do cause I do not have a picture that could be scanned in to make the teeth.
