Jutty,
First things first. Which Kv motor? 2s or 3s pack? C rating on the pack?
Just did a little checking on motocalc, the 4100kv set up on a 3s pack is pulling over 13 amps. If your pack is not at least 10C you're pulling way to much on it.
Something else I've found. I tried using these motors in my Pz Cub, both the 4900 kv and the 5400kv models, went through 7 of them in 6 months. Finally got them to replace it with a Hacker 49. No problems since on it.

p.s. It's not considered good forum manners to post same question in multiple forums.

It is a 5400kv, great planes 7.4 volt 1500 mah 2 cell (2S). I have no idea the C rating. I am on my 2nd motor, at least E-flite replaced it for free:-)
Thanks

Jutty,
I just went and checked my old paperwork on the 370's.
See it pays to save this stuff.
Max amps on the 4100 is 6
Max amps on the 5400 is 8
Even with a 6:1 gear box you are pulling 12+ amps.
See a problem here?
You could trey like I did, send it back and beg for the Hacker 49. It's rated at 12 max and 7 continuous. I'm pulling 12.4 on my Cub. And it's still going strong 20+ flights.

I am doing large E-conversion projects now, but I still love my brushless Slow Stick. The following setup provide 25 minute plus flights, incredible vertical performance, and still slows down for feather light landings and walk along flybys.

AXI 2212/26
APC 11x3.8 slow flight prop
Castle Creations Phoenix 25
Thunderpower 3S1P 2100mah battery
15.4A & 165W

Lot's of fun. Must exercise throttle management.

Ah, the new king of overkill. I run an AXI2212/34, cc phx10, Kokam 3s 1500, 11 or 12x3.8, 8 or 10 amps. 3.8 pitch keeps it just short of wing flap usually. You must have/exercise considerable restraint. Ailerons are neat too. Tom

Finally, I am the king of something.
