I am trying to improve my flying skills by running RealFlight G3. When I try various airplanes, everything from trainers to full on 3D airplanes, I find a lot of differences in how they fly. No surprise I guess, but I find the easiest airplane to fly is the YAK 54. i'm not talking aerobatics, but just taking off and landing.
I'm wondering if this is due to the size of the model or what. Any ideas would be appreciated. I also find electric powered models seem to not want to slow down as compared to slimers.

whats the difference betwen the simulator and real model flight? any simularity? and how do you tell? dick

i have aeroflight pro and i must say it aint nothing like the real thing to me.i can fly the helis with ease in sim however the real ones seem to have a mind of there own.i own 3 400s electric walkera helis and a pico as well as a few more cheap ones and a corona.have crashed them all in real life several times but in the sim i rock---go figure---

From; anthony amrhein,
I have emailed you some data on my flying and my airplanes, it appears that i am not writing it in the proper area on your fancy software package.
I am a senior and need a little help with regards to find my way around in you system. Help Tony

I find in my limited experience that RC model airplanes behave quite differently from their simulated ones.

I use Aerofly Pro and I think that it flys exactly like my real RC models. Each airplane has its own flight characteristics and so do the simulated models. I have learned things such as harrier rolls on the simulator and then gone to the field and repeated the performance with my real models the first time I have tried the maneuver with the model. Your setup and trims, expotential, differentials, etc, are where you tweak things for performance on both the sim and the real models. I fly most models at 128% sim speed and feel that it comes pretty close to the real thing. Helis feel close to my real helis at around 100% and low rates on my transmitter. Most of the sim models require tweaking and usually need a CG adjustment. Personally, I think Aerofly Pro is a great way to learn to fly even the most challenging 3D maneuvers without risking your real models. Hope this helps.

i didnt say i dont like it--matter of fact i like it alot but i guess my heli s are diffrerant than those on the sim---plus no worry of crashing on the sim

I have one word for you all (REFLEX) un-freakin believable. I have played G3 and was impressed with the somewhat realistic feel but decided to try the reflex instead, only because I dont care for the TX on G3. also the, I wont call it "graphics" on reflex are photographs of real places. whats really cool is A) I use my own TX. B) I put photos of where I fly in the sim and it is like a trip to my cliff on rainy days. Only other draw back is the amount of planes and helicopters I am going to hound them for more helicopters and sailplanes don't get me wrong there is a grip of planes and heli's. As far as realistic feel and looks it rocks, tip-stalls on sailplanes wash out on low hovers, inverted and fast forward flying is so close I swear I am crashing my century and think oh crap how much is that going to cost? lol, as far as the most realistic in my opinion I have yet to play one that even comes close to Reflex XTR sim. G3 feels like a video game, mine, I swear I come away sweating sometimes, no joke.

I saw someone at the hobby shop using reflex. I could have sworn that I was watching a video. The graphics are that good. Although, I guess the thing that matters the most is realism. I have G3, and it certainly helped a lot in learning how to hover, but otherwise it isn't the same. I would like to get reflex, but I can't find a cable for my transmitter

You may have already found these sites, however there are heaps of models for Reflex (and many other sims) here:

Reflex is a fantastic Sim for realism. The graphics are great (check an actual screen shot, attached), and the "feel" is awesome. You can adjust the parameters of a particular model to fly just like your real one . .

just a comment on the realism thing...re: the rc planes dont act like the real thing..

you can adjust many parameters in the sim to change the aircraft's characteristics.

tweak them until you are happy that it flies like yours.

i know alot of people comment about it not being the same, but i would disagree on that. perhaps some validity in the stock, unedited form (like when have you flwon 2 aircraft that behave exactly the same), but you can make them the same- or close enough thats for sure.

it's funny, as you can decide to go two ways in particular with helis.

either make the sim fly like yours, OR, make yours fly like the sim's.
