View Full Version : Source for scale wheels/tires for a 1/7 Tiger Moth?

I just got my Green Models '30' sized Tiger Moth today. Wow. I am really surprised at how nice this thing looks for a Chinese ARF.
Anyhoo, I am assembling this model for a Scale Fly-in event at my flying club. While the bird is not completely accurate as a scale model it isn't too bad either. One thing I do dislike and they look out of place, are the gray plastic wheels included with the model.
So, since wheels are out there in the wide open I'd like them to be more scale in appearance.
The tires are 2 1/4" for the mains and 1 1/4" diameter for the tail wheel.
Thanks in advance!

Tiger moth wheels are pretty generic looking. You could use these:
And fabricate a hub cover as in this picture:

The Dubro wheels are about the same as what came with the kit. Maybe I'll fashion a set of covers for them!
Thanks for the link to those full scale shots of the Tiggie! Most helpful.
Be sure to join us at Konterra Model Airpark in Laurel on June 24th for the 'Airplanes of the World' scale fly-in!

I'm a member of FSA. Not sure if I'll be at the show. I'd love to see your TM flying some time. There are so few scale electrics at FSA. I thought I was the only one.

Alright! Another FSA e-power head!
Have you seen Jack Adami's AXi Powered 60 size Corsair? See the attachment.
I took that shot at Konterra a month or so ago.
Be nice to see some more scale e-power at the field.

Now that you mention it, I have seen Jack's Corsair. He was having prop problems initially and when he got that straightened out, it flew like a rocket. I haven't seen him in a while, though. Probably just not at the field at the same time.
I'm working on a Me-109 right now. It had a mishap on it's maiden and I'm nearly finished rebuilding. It should be ready for the re-maiden this weekend.
