Hello has anybody flied one of these my wife (bless her heart or curse her) got me one after hearing I would like to get a ducted fan airplane. I know nothing of this plane but thought I would ask here. Should I smile and say thank you and stuff it under the bed or should I put it together and fly it. I think it going to cost me another pair of shoes or worse a complete outfit for winter:eek:

Personally? I think it's junk. I only paid $40 for it so it doesn't owe me anything except all the time that I spent putting it together. I used the stock motor with a 1320 3cell and it lumbered about 6 ft. off the ground struggling to get airborn. Finally it cartwheeled when I tried to turn it back toward me and became a mess. I've rebuilt it (sort of) but after that experience, I'm just not interested in it anymore.
It would be rude of you not to build and try to fly it. You've got to at least try. Who knows? Maybe you'll have better luck than I did. I may have made some errors in the build but I don't think so. Good luck!

I'd look at going brushless. Several folks over at Ezone have been using several different motors. Gary Wright uses a B 20 Hacker on his delta with good results.

You must not be talking about the Wattage Turbo Vector. Surely you're not.

I have one that I haven't built yet. Bought it a while ago when it was dirt cheap at Hobby People. The posts I've read on EZone gave me the impression that it wasn't too bad with the stock motor. Sooner or later I'll try it out myself.

The Turbo Vector flies great with the stock brushed motor. It will fly out of my hand with just a firm launch, not a running type of launch. I use a 2100 mah 3S (11.1 v.) TP pack. The 1320 pack may not be up to the task and hence short on power. Just my 2 cents worth.

Thanks for the input from you all I will be a good husband and build it after I finnish my telemaster. If it wont fly i will blame myself or the wind or the plane eating tree we have out back. But I think with the right setup it will fly.

Jerry,
Glad you've had such success with the stock motor. Do you know how many amps you're drawing WOT? That ceratinly would help shed some light on how big a pack and what discharge rating will be needed.

Chris,
I don't remember the exact current draw at this time. (Old age), I am not flying it at the present time as there are too many planes and not enough time. You know the feeling!!! I will put a receiver back in it and test it at first chance for some free time. I will post the results at that time for you.
Good luck with yours.
Jerry
PS: Should be able to do it some time between now and this weekend.

Chris,
As I work from home, I decided a modeling question is more important than work. I checked the current draw on the Turbo Vector with stock motor and 3S-2100 mah TP pack. It is drawing 10.5 amps at WOT.
Hope this helps.

Jerry,
Thanks for going to all that trouble. 10.5 amps sounds reasonable, and shouldn't be a problem for a decent pack. That's good to know.
Regards,
Chris
