Hi All

I am just busy with the finishing touches of a Geen R/C Models
scale (1:7) Tiger Moth and need a few pointers.

There is no detail as to how far the cowl goes onto the fuse and the book (such as it is) does not give the distance from firewall to the prop hub. This I would think is pretty important as it will have a marked effect on the CG and if the motor is to far forward how would it affect the flying characteristics of the plane.

Secondly, there is absolutely no mention of wether the wings are actually joined with epoxy and if so which sections should be left loose for dismantling for transport.

Any ideas and suggestion would be very welcome.
Thanks

Geoff,

I am in the midst of assembling one of these. As to the motor mounting I have my motor sitting 105MM from the firewall to the back face of the prop adapter.

I have not yet decided how I will mount the cowl. The directions are arse.

As for the wings you can glue them but they appear to be made to be held together by the flying wires and the lower wing nylon bolts. I am not going to glue mine unless it seems warranted.

See my build thread here: (sorry not much updated of late)

Last post shows my motor mounting method.

Hi Mike

Thanks for your reply.

Amazing how bad the build instructions are. I am going on the pictures I have of the model and your distance seems right. With the cowl where I think it should be I measure 100 mm from the firewall.

Problem with the wing will come for transport and assembley at the field. I am also not wanting to glue the wing and you are right about the flying wires. What worries me is 'how many screws and nuts will I lose' trying to assemble at the field.

I post some pics tomorrow of my progress.

Keep posting.

Mike

Thanks for the link. I did a search on the forum and it didn't come up or I missed it. It is exactly what I am looking for and I think my thread can be closed.

See you there.

Sky - please delete this thread. I have found what I am looking for in another thread.
