Hello,
I downloaded a Slow Stick so I can practice flying on FMS however the SS PAR file is aileron controlled and not rudder controlled like my real Slow Stick. Is there any way to change this uisng the PAR editor? I tried to change it but have not been successful.
Thanx!

If you downloaded the FKstick8.zip model, it is rudder controlled but the rudder is on the aileron channel. Just change the .par file so that references to channel 3 are changed to channel 1. Many modellers put the rudder on the primary turning channel (ailerons) for 3 channel airplanes that are R/E/T. If you prefer to always have rudder on the rudder stick, make the change, otherwise, keep your primary turning control on the same stick.
//Wing4 <FIN>

1 0 0 //Ex X,Y,Z
0 0 -1 //Ey X,Y,Z
2 //polar number
0.18 //span [m]
4 //number of elements
AUTOELEMENT
0 //AttackAngle [deg]
0.26 //chord length at the first end [m]
0.26 //chord length at the second end [m]
0.16 //chord length of the flap [m]
0 //start position of the flap [m]
0.18 //end position of the flap [m]
-44 //Maximum Angle [deg]
3 //channel (change this to channel 1)
You can edit the file with Windows Notepad, the .par editor that comes with FMS, the Plane Field .par editor on my website or Mr. Masuoka's ParEdit.exe editor which I prefer.

If you're interested in something that looks more like a Slow Stick - try this: http://h1.ripway.com/pjprofili/SlowStick.zip

Has anyone encountered some of the free download airplanes for FMS not responding to controls i.e. they appear and they make a noise but they just don't register/move?
I downloaded a bunch today and most of them just sit there. I have tried recalibrating but as yet no luck.
Thanks,
Tim

That happens when you're running airplane models with FMS 2 version 8 .par files with FMS 2 version 7 code. Uninstall the old version and then install the latest FMS 2 version 8.5 and those models should work fine.

How do you make a plne larger with the editors. I want to make the slow stick 2 or 3 times the size?
Thanks

You use Metasequoia LE a free 3D graphics package to scale the model larger and then use the .par editor to adjust the flight physics to reflect the correct model behaviour in FMS.

I've found that with most models it really helps if you can read German or have access to a good language translator. :D

BTW, if you haven't already checked out the PAR editor:
