Has anybody flown or seen the 3Delight that is being advertised on RCU and RCGroups.com? looks nice and they claim for it to be light for it's size,18-20 oz

I haven't but I'd like to. There's a good build thread at RCG. Supposed to be quite a performer.

I have one that I take with me regularly to the field. Very good Pattern, but not for 3D.

Just what I'm looking for. What kind off power you got Mike? Stock or something else?

In that video I was running a Himax 2025-4200, 6.6:1, P-25 and a 12X6 SF prop and a TP 3S prolite 2 ah pack. I have since changed the geared to 5.5:1 and swing an 11x7. Much faster for pattern and dropped the amps a bit. I am right at 200 watts with the 5.5:1 gearing. Weight was 23 oz if I recall.

Very nice flying, Mike! I just recently have learned to fly the slow roll on my Formosa and with it a whole new world seems to have opened up. Also liked the level circle.
Have you flown the Quiet Storm? I am wondering how this compares. The QS is an exceptional flyer but I'm thinking of replacing it with the Hyperion because I much prefer its looks and am pretty much just flying pattern.

Thanks Berry, The slow roll is a fun move and it is a challenge to keep it at the same speed over the length of the roll. This plane Flat Turns looks exceptionaly well too.
I have not flown a Quiet Storm, but I understand they fly almost identically. For a pattern plane, it is right as rain :)

Thanks for the response guys, My 3delight just showed up at the door today. Looks good, can't wait to get started on it. I'm graduating from a foamy to this, I'm hooked! I have a couple gallons of glow fuel for sale if anybody is interested.:) My glow engine plane's will collect dust for now.

I picked one up at the Neat fair today. It was either this or the Mini Edge which flew great. I didn't get to see this fly and no one at NEast Sailplanes had flown it but I got it anyway. Very light airplane. Will try the stock motor first but also have a Himaxx 2816 that will soon need a home.

Hey Mike P,
Can you compare the following to the 3 Delight?
E-Flite Edge
E-Flite Mini Funatana
Fliton Prodigy
I am stuck on the decision making here and would value anyone's help that has experience with any of these. I fly more pattern/funfly than anything else but a touch of 3D capability would be nice.
Thanks
Bill

I have only flown the Mini Funtana and I can say the 3Delight beats it hands down. The 3DE is more of a pure pattern plane although it will hover and flat spin and harrier roll pretty well. I have had my eye on the Prodigy as I think it might be a better mix of 3D and pattern. I am just going on what I have seen however.

Thanks Mike. Sounds like a winner given the price for the combo I found. Don't know about the Hyperion motor/ESC included though.

I think Northeast Sail only sells the package but I'm pretty sure I saw the plane offered alone somewhere. That'd be the way to go. I'm really looking forward to the Himaxx 2816 in this. I'm just going to skip the stock motor. This is really a nice kit.

Looks like they got them here with or without power system.:D

This is one nice flying airplane! My main experience is with the Modeltech Extra (conversion), Mini Funtana and the Quiet Storm and this plane feels different than any of them. Though the wingloading is the same as my MF it flies with a very light feel. Kind of "floaty." I think the flat bottom fuse must generate a helpful portion of lift. Handles very well just above stall speed and is a joy to land. Tracks as well as the QS. Maybe a little better. I enjoy its slower roll rate as it's closer to scale.
I am having a problem getting with my CG with 2100 batteries. Right now it's about 3/4 inch behind the spar. Would like to move it forward just a tad. All in all it's a great airplane. Like Mike said, it's perfect for pattern.
