It doesn't appear to make enough extra thrust to do all that much, but it sure does look and sound cool! :)

I'd rather try the Estes rocket engine route. A servo rigged switch could be used to ignite the solar (electric hot wire) ignitor and ignite the motor.

sounds like a hoot tho = guess it was a small rocket motor with electronic ignition mounted behind a ducted fan
wouldnt mind seeing a vid if anyone has one
