Hello all,

Does anyone have any comments on the Alfa Fw190?
I saw a feature article in Backyard Flyer on there 'top 10' picks. I really liked the looks of it and it gave me the nudge to get back into rc flying. I have only done glo before this, so I ordered the same layout as the test model.
MP Jet AC 28/7-35D Outrunner
either 8x6 or 8x4 prop ( two article I read used these props)
Jeti Advanced plus 18A brushless esc
3-cell kokam 1500mah pack
(Does anyone have an estimate on the flight duration with this setup?)

As I wait for the model I have been trying to learn as much as I can about electrics, but this will definately be a long process!

Cheers,
Marc

I have not flown the FW190, but have flown some of the others. They are all simply awesome. I say go for it.....

The only weak link is your 1500 Kokams, they are good for about 8-9 amps but sag after that. Get some Tanics!

I have it for about 1 year ago and is great, I use to carry 3 different planes when I go to fly and always is one of them.

I fly it even when is too windy and everybody always ask me about it.

AXI2212/34
CC PH 25
APC SF 9x6
3S 1500mAh Kokam

I agree with Rcers this pack is old generation, now you can find a better one.
Look at the elevator is the only weak point in this plane, I did a reinforcement to it.

What did you do to strengthen the elevator?

I was looking at the Kokam 3s 2000mah pack (15C). Is this decent or should I look for another brand. I have not seen Tanic on HL, TH or some of the local shops. I have seen Apogee and Thunder Power.

Thanks for the info

I have had really good luck in my Alfa Corsair with Thunder Power 3 cell 1320mah lipolys. I am using the red MP Jet outrunner, Jeti 18amp ESC, and an APC 8x6 prop. Power is fantastic!!!! Long flight times. I used to fly it with 2 cell 1320 packs and a 9x6 prop. It flew well but didn't have unlimited vertical!!!

What did you do to strengthen the elevator?
Both sides of the elevator are link by foam, I strengted it wiht a small piece of balsa inside that foam link before it was glued

3S 2000mAh Kokam will be more than enough and you can use a more powerfull motor as AXI221226 or 20

AXI 2212/20 Thunder Power 11.1v 1320s 9 x 6 apc slofly prop. Phoenix 25.

Plenty of power. Flies great. It really does handle some wind. Great scale look & detail. I also love the fact that you don't have to spend hours farting around painting and glueing. It really is quick to get in the air.

I am getting about 15 minutes of spirited flying with this set up.

I would recommend it.

Thinking about the P-47 now. . . or the Corsair . .

I have repaired two 190 stabs, PU'd a tapered 1/8"x5" balsa spar between the two halves. Elevators are joined by a short length of dowel, seem to repair ok with just PU glue as long as there's some dowel showing to glue the broken half upon.

The Thunder Power ProLite 3s-1320 is really nice! I just got one, and it doesn't even get warm, on full throttle apps where my good ol' gen1 wouldn't even hold up. Probably the batt of choice for these Alfas, and many other park jobs.

Does anyone out there know of a place I can still order Parts for this model?

I have performed many Google Searches and nothing, no parts!

Thanks!

Alfa does not do parts, sorry. You can get the whole plane from them directly though.

It is took bad? What - don't know what you mean?

No, sadly parts are not really the issue with Alfa not selling well. It is the Asia sourced ARF's with motors, cheap servos and esc's that sell for less that killed Alfa. Too bad they are still among the best flying planes in the game. FAR better looking too.
