Yesterday was a great flying day!!!
I took Wally's Dallaire Sportster out to pass my solo requirements.
Seemed very fitting that a 74 year old guy was attempting to solo with a "Spirit of Yesteryear" Dallaire Sporster 70 year old design.

The grass at our field was too high for an ROG, (rise of grass), so the first hand launch attempt revealed that the Robbie12v Power Plus motor was way to powerful at full throttle, but using 1/2 was just the right power for nice vintage launching. The Dallaire Sportster is magnificent at that setting and very easy to control. The 8x4 folding prop gave it beautiful sailplane capability and the sink rate was very very slow, due to the wing loading of 6.4 ounces. Total weight with a 3s1p 1320mah Thunder Power lipo is 17 ounces.

When I made my three required landings I cut the power and she just glided down easily but wanted to keep on flying.
A total joy to fly and solo with, AWESOME DAY!!!

A perfect trainer for easy relaxed flying.

The vintage Dallaire Sportster is a perfect trainer 3 channel trainer
