Been flying around on FMS for a couple of weeks now, really enjoying flying gliders & powered wings. (Downloaded just to practice heli's originally) Got a problem though. Been visiting a few sites with downloads for FMS, but not been into computers for long & no matter what I try, cant dowload any of the models:( Can anyone out there post me step by step instructions?
Also now thinking of buying a better sim. which is best for realism flightwise?

Do you mean you can't actually download them or that you don't know how to get them into FMS after you have downloaded them ?
The general process is
1. download, which usually just means clicking on something and saying where on your computer to put it.
2. you then need to unzip the model file you've downloaded using a program like WinZip and place ALL the contents into FMS/Model
If you say which version of FMS you have and sites you tried to get the models from it might help. They're not all exactly the same.

downloaded winzip, got hold of slowflyer in WW1 colours. but just sat on the deck like a noisy fan asssisted corpse! I can fly model helis no prob, but Im a bit of a novice on these contraptions:). Let me expand - downloaded slowflyer then unzipped - well think I did - then when went to pick up from saved folder there were loads of them - some pic's - one just the colours etc - when I thought I'd cracked it as I said it wouldn't fly at all ... arrrrghhhh !!! then jammed whole of FMS up! Please advise if poss.

Did you set up the controls for planes in FMS? That sounds like what happened to me when I tried flying Heli's on it the first time. They would just sit there.

Just tried to download a Cessna & froze the dam FMS again, Was flying a ME110 IT just takes off then gently plummets into the deck GRRRRRRRR!!!!
No response on TX, Explain your last message a little more clearly for the hard of thinking (DOH!)

Open FMS, click on "Controls" at the top, then click on "Analog Control", then click on "Mapping/Calibration". Make sure the numbers on the left are setup to the correct channel on your TX for each control movement.

Just did all of that. can now fly all models that originally came with FMS. But Cessna just sits there with its little engine screaming like a banshee! gonna have to get one of these mad teenage PC literate types to sort all of this out, (sayin that none of them can fly a model heli-HA!)

Then its sounds like the models you are trying to download are not compatible with the version of FMS that you have. Not all versions of FMS are compatible with all models. Also some of the model files I have tried downloading in the past were corrupt and I never could get them to work. There are thousands of models out there for FMS, don't give up.

FMS 2 Alpha 8.5 supports both beta 2.7 and alpha 2.8 .par files. If you're running version 2 beta 2.7, the alpha 2.8.5 models will just sit on the runway with the motors running. Beware though, on Windows XP, some folks have problems getting alpha 2.8.5 to run correctly with their transmitter.

how do I get to c:\program files \fms\model directory on my computer, please I am in serious need of HELP!!
go to start, program files, acessorys, windows explorer.
click on that it will bring up my documents probably now navigate to the C drive. go to my computer, then click on the C: drive . now click on Program Files. Now click on FMS, then Models.
Now for test run lets go ahead and download a file from:
http://gunnerson.homestead.com/typhoon.zip ill just asume you are using Internet explorer.
now a file will pop up asking to save, click on the save button. now you will see a window click on my computer click on C drive, then Program files, then FMS, then Models. and click save.
Now it will download and give you the option to open, go to folder, or cancel. if you go to the folder you will see the file you downloaded and you will have to double click it to unzip it assuming you have winzip installed.
or you can just click open and winzip will start automaticaly. unzip it. and then you are done.
If you dont have winzip you will need to download it from here for free:

ok I unzipped a file ,but when i click on extract it doesn'tput it in model directory. this is very frustrating lol
there should of been a option to "exract to here" and "extract." you wanted "extract to here"
You will need to go to C:/unzipped to get the folder. just right click on it to copy. you will see copy, click it.. and then go to the FMS/Models and right click and click paste :)

I've downloaded Beta2 version7, how do I know which models I should try to download at a glance, just gettting rather tired of looking at "noisy corpses" LOL. Been flying gliders mainly, with the odd prop & WW2 ME262 (the most beautiful aircraft ever made-period!) Anyone got any DF models for me to play with out there or any nice helis?
Hi, i would download beta 2 version 8. It should be backwords compatiable.

Been trying to download 8.5 version of this (most annoying) FMS . No joy what so ever! pushing me on towards a comercial sim by the minute! If its free & easily downloaded, why wont it!!!!!! Saying that, want to learn how to slope soar, as I live near the coast with BIG drops to the shore & only 10mins from the Yorkshire moors, with valleys a plenty, need a decent sim (to get me off the ground, as to speak:D ) Still flyin loads of 3D on helis, but want to get into fixed wing, as more oppoutunities for REAL flights in the real world. As a by the way the Horten glider is my favourite! just lacks the WW2 Nazi logos!

I've tried to download 8.5 version of FMS. No joy whot so eva:mad: .
A more accurate and detailed description of the symptoms than "no joy whot so eva" might help. From that I can only tell your spell-checker ain't working ;).
FMS 8.5 works for lots of people including me. So what happens when you try it ?
