    PA,

The PowerUp 400 SloFly motor from Heads Up RC has been a good motor so far. I've been pushing it pretty hard going for more power for my Stevephoon-3D and have gotten it pretty hot a couple of times and it still works great. (Using 11 in props) The best prop I've found for it while not pulling too much current is an APC 10x3.8 SF. I do wish that HeadsUp would post their "normal" analysis of prop vs current vs thrust for this motor. I do not have any way to measure thrust.

I think your plane will be lighter than mine, so this motor should be a good fit. Let me know if you have any specific questions and I'll see what I can do to answer them.

The iron was around $7 at Target. I checked the different temp settings with a meat thermometer and marked my low and high setting for working with solite/microfilm per the instructions for the film. I've covered 3 planes and 5 wings with this iron. I've been pleased with it. The $30 hobby irons are likely more comfortable to handle...but the iron does just fine for me.

Welcome back, you've been conspicuous in your absence....
Seems the last time you were around "campus" was early Feb so I'm sure you've missed a bunch. There is a Scratch and Kit build contest going on for 2010 and I've been suckered in. Just about the time I announced my Dewoitine 520 build...all H broke loose at work. Oh well.

Yeah. It's got almost no cyclic authority with the weights at the their farthest out. It's like flying a gigantic boat.

Yeah I've got about 650$ in mine. They aren't cheap :P.

But you can get a beginner one like the Gambler for under 100$. It's just not composite, and isn't as high performance. But still fun.

Yeah, it's a solid radio. I really like it, but my SD-10G is in a world of it's own. :D
