Slow stick motor

This motor appears to be a high speed motor, not suitable for the slow stick. This motor turns a 5X7 prop.

I gather the slow stick needs a large propeller moving at a slow speed. Or, will the small 5X7 be okay?

Thanks in advance.

It'll work, but not optimal.
SS is a s..l..o..w.. plane (as designed-some folks seem determined to deviate from this design).
Works better toward that goal, with a low KV motor (800-1000) turning a larger prop (~10").

Outrunner

What is the popular stick mount, low KV, outrunner these days?

flydiver 09-16-2011 06:12 AM

These days? Not a clue since I don't pay attention. I use anything in the 50-70g range with a low KV. It's a SS, doesn't matter a whole lot.
Stuff like this will work.

You knew yours wasn't optimal. Where did you get that info? There are threads and threads and threads on the SS. Do a bit of searching.

Alot use the 2410-09Y from headsuprc.com try it out with a 3s and 10x4.7 prop.

I looked for that. It was my very first brushless on my original SS. In fact, it still hauls the original (with a new wing) around but I rewound it after the wires broke.
He doesn't seem to carry it anymore. I think it's being phased out. TP may be getting out of the 'bell' motor production I read speculated.

Looks like you can still get it an HobbyKing. Ah, nope-back ordered. A mess of them are. Phased out after all?
Maybe this one: http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...00kv_180W.html
Have to get a stick mount for it.

2509

I checked my box of stuff and found a 2409. I'll put it on the stick.

What plane would use the stick mount motor mentioned above?

that might work good with a 800mm airfield warbird from Nitroplanes.

HeadsUp still has the 2410-09Y. Just now labeled the HURC 2410 instead of the TP 2410. http://www.headsuprc.com/servlet/the...ushless/Detail
