F-22 v2 Raptor in "Five Easy Pieces"

Took my "Five Easy Piece" F-22 v2 Raptor out for an evening spin in the wind.
She is 42" long with a 28" KFm4 wingspan and flies on a Grayson Hobby Micro-jet v3 flight pack and a GWS mixer.

Tomorrow I will post the links to my F-18E Super Hornet and my T-50 PAK FA v2.

Your F-18E looks like a nice build. I built your YF-23 also, another great build and flyer. Very responsive. I would like to know how you came up with these designs.
They are awesome. Keep up the good work, keep up the good work. Can't wait to see what you come up with next, Thank you.

Thank-you.
I always wanted to be an aeronautical engineer. I build from orthographic drawings of the planes from "Virtual Aircraft Museum" and "Aircraft Drawing Downloads" which helps keep the planes authentic as you can and keep them simple with fan-fold foam.

Another excellent build from your production line ! I love my F-22. It's the plane I warm up with everytime I get to the field. The one plane I have that's totally obedient.

Nice work as always !

Thanks Hawk.
Do you have any pics or video of your F-22?

dahawk 07-17-2012 06:24 AM

Mine are of course alot smaller than yours. Here's a pic of my SU-27 on the kitchen table followed by the rest of the parkjet squadron (F-15, F4J Phantom II, Convair Sea Dart, F-22) and the Radjet(ARF). I now have added the F-16 and T-45 50mm JPower/Skyangel EDF's to my small plane line-up. I figure I can get about 5-6 planes in the car to take to the field.

Have not built a larger scale version like yours. All under 30" WS. All use Grayson V2's except the F4J which uses the Mega V2. The F-15 was a small version of the Otto Dieffenbach design and could r.o.g . Had vectored rudder thrust. She had a date with the grim reeper ! The SU-27 is my hangar queen. Have plucked her for spare parts but could ready her for flight in a pinch. The Sea Dart is a real hoot and a head turner. Delta wing. Ground or water takeoff. The F-22 remains the best flier of the bunch. Got into the parkjets for combat on Sundays with some club members - Hawk

Maybe it's just me, but I can't get to the F-22 plans. I get a blank page.

Going to try and get my pics of your YF-23 with my changes posted soon. Great plans and planes. Awesome vids too. Keep it up, I know I'm not the only one to enjoy building your planes.

I was asked what the difference was between my "Five Easy Piece" planes and the RCPowers Planes.
I don't know if my "Five Easy Piece" planes can be considered cousins to the RCP planes. You see the "5EZP" fuses are made quite differently.

They have do not use a profile core and internal horizontal fuse profile and multiple foam bulkheads like many of the RCP planes as well as many others do.
My Five Easy piece planes have fuse panels shaped so that they create when beveled and glued together a strong and essentially hollow shaped fuse with less than twice the foam of a profile plane.
This is what I call my 3DD fuselages.

Sometimes I use spongey foam for bulkheads to help cushion and hold the battery and I almost always run carbon across the fuse at or near the battery location.

I found not having an internal structure to be better in that, one it's lighter, and two, the fuselage is more easily repaired. The internal structure I found often crushes and drags the skin it is glued to with it on impact. I find my 3DD fuses most often split apart along a seam upon impact and are thus easier to tape and or glue back into shape. SO lightness and ease of repair are the two features of the five easy piece methodology.

I've been thinking about mods to my "5EZP" F-22v2 Raptor.
"Poporbit" (@RCGROUPS) made a nose mod to his "5EZP" Raptors that I liked a lot.
I've also learned a lot building the Fulcrum and Light Fulcrum and Dultsev's PAK FA's since building the F-22 v2. So I wanted to apply that knowledge to my new Raptor.
I also had some other mods in mind to make the upper fuse more prototypical and blended with the main wing so I took some time today to design/build my new "Five Easy Piece" F-22 v3 Raptor.

The ver 3 plane looks great. Any idea on when you may post the plans? I am planning on building a foam F-22 and I really like the looks of yours. Can you suggest a good thread to see the construction techniques on your planes? I remember seeing some, but I can't seem to find one.

Thanks,
Steve

Thanks. There is a link to my "5EZP" F-22 v2 build video in this thread.
I hope to have the v3 plans published soon.
