The Turnigy 9x uses Flysky protocol which is completely different to Spektrum DSM2. The two cannot work together unless you put a DSM2 module in the transmitter, which I think if possible requires some modification work, plus the new DSM2 module.

Much easier just to use a Turnigy 9X receiver, no?

thanks for the speedy reply to my delima , looks to me like I didn't get on the forums ahead of my decision to buy the wrong rx . thanks for the help , will use rx as suggested , learned to ask first to people that know .

You can get an Orange JR module for the 9x at HK: http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...mpatible_.html

But, IMHO it is better to get RXs to match the module, rather than different modules for different planes.

I will be upgrading my 9x(when I get it) to a FrSky module. Much better range, telemetry as well as many RXs to choose from.

Great prices here: http://www.alofthobbies.com/jr-trans...ry-module.html

If you get a new module, make sure it is a JR type, not a Futaba type.

If you bought the 9x with the module attached, it's Flysky and it would have come with a receiver.

If you bought the version without the module then you can use what you want. One thing: the 9x defaults to Futaba channel order. If you use OrangeRx module and receiver the failsafe will be on the wrong channel for the throttle. You can fix this by upgrading the TX firmware but that's another topic.

My advice is to go with Frsky. (BTW, Frsky and Flysky are two different, incompatible systems.)

Second ... either fit the Spektrum compatible Tx Module to use the Rx you bought ... or as another suggests - install FrSky Module and FrSky Rx ...
Yes you can go FlySky factory if you want - but personally the FrSky gear provides one of the best systems and at prices that are pleasing to the pocket.

There are plenty people who will buy the Spekie Rx of you I'm sure.

The 8 Ch recievers for the 9x cost less than $10 anyway. I just buy them and have never had any problems.

All good ... but also note that most cater for the modification people ... particularly those who re-program (reflash) the 9X ...
The Yahoo group I started was more for those who do not reflash the 9X and leave as original. Not everyone wants to reflash and i thought to collect together as much info / experience of users to help those who start with their 9X and then they can decide what they thrn want to do.

The FrSky module installation uses the basic or reflashed 9X .. is the simplest and best you can do ... with no need of programming or electronic skills.
There is one aspect that may need sorting ... the pins in the Tx slot on the later models - some have raised plastic that stops the module sitting fully in. My Turnigy 9X has that and I ground the plastic away flush to the case ... The FlySky module has a recess that allows that plastic .. but FrSky has no recess ... Sounds worse than it really is ... very simple to cure.
