Windows 8 Upgrade

Just installed Windows 8 in my wifes 4 year old laptop computer that had the Vista program. We had been having problems with printer commands since we got this PC. Many people don't like it, but after installation, I found that Windows 8 has a icon named "Desktop". Click on the desktop, and lo and behold, up pops the same familiar Windows Vista and Windows 7 screen.

It will take several hours to update, with a requirement to stop by the computer every 15 minutes or so to check on progress.

Do note that you might have to re-install some software, it's surprising that Microsofts own MS Word, Access, Excel and Desktop Publisher had to be re-installed.

Right now, today is the last day. You can download Windows 8 directly from Microsoft for $39.00 plus tax. Their offer expires today.

Thanks for the tip! One day short of payday though.lol

I like win 7 64bit. Vista is the worst windows ever. I absolutely hated it. I know a few people who went back to XP from vista. Would love to read your impressions once you get win 8 sorted out.

I downloaded microsoft office 2013, and it is just a huge resource hog. Requires internet access for everything. I'm sticking to Microsoft works. lol

I have found no valid reason to upgrade to windows 8 from windows 7.

I'm still rocking out windows 98 and xp. I fought xp for the longest time.

I got two computers on 98, about 7 or 8 desktops and laptops on xp. Might have one vista, I don't remember. Still haven't found a reason to upgrade any of them.

Agreed:
My main computer with Windows 7 is working just fine. I'll have to check though if my Western Mountain battery analyzer works with Windows 8. It doesn't with Windows 7.
