Larger batteries for park zone p51 mustang?
I have an ultra micro p-51 mustang from park zone that came with a 150 mah lipo but I would like to buy some larger ones. I bought a 240mah lipo designed for the blade mcpx but the connectors are different and I can't seem to find the right adapter anywhere.
So, where can I buy larger batteries with the correct connector for this plane? Thx. |
It will probably add too much weight and throw your CG way off.

Mini Mustang bats
5 Attachment(s)
Almost from day 1, I have been flying my pair of UM P-51 Mustangs with alternate batteries, not the hopelessly inadequate 120mAh 1S lipo supplied. Best all around battery, IMHO, for the UM Mustang is the Hyperion 240mAh 1S lipo, available from AllErc, as well as others, possibly BP Hobbies.
I get my 240's from RCBabbelBat over on RCGroups, complete with the proper connector. Search around in this link to see what is available in the Hyperion line: http://www.allerc.com/batteries-lith..._4_93_155.html No problem with balance, solid 8-10 minute flights with throttle management, but then who flys the Mini on anything less than WOT!! ;) Hyperion 240 cell can be charged up to 5C, and has a 25C discharge rating. In cold weather, I use a "blankie", to keep some warmth in the cell. Another good choice is the 190mAh 1S from MiniAviation. This cell fits the UM Mustang like it was made for it. Rated at 25C, I use these also on my Mustang Mini's, but now more on the Embers, Playmates, Micro Stik, Champ. Go here for info on the MiniAviation cells: http://www.miniaviation.com/KM_190P.html Common Sense RC has Lectron Pro 270 and 280 1S cells that work, and I sometimes use them. Good luck. |
I am going to order several of these if they ever get back in stock. They seem to be a lot of bang for the buck.
http://hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store...zone_Etc_.html Do those larger batteries give you any more power or simply better run time? Ill be running them on my UltraMicro P-40. I am guessing you trashed the stock P-51 battery lol |
The nanotech lipos are, from what I have both heard and read, good lipo's. I personally would like to get closer to 200mah rating if possible.
The higher rated lipos, such as the Hyperion 240 and MiniAviation 190 basically get you longer flight times. There may seem to be a tad more power, intially, but this is because the voltage sag on a fully charged Hyperion or MA is less, thus allowing for higher revs of the motor. If you are not flying WOT most of the time, the benefit will definitely be longer flight times. One thing for sure, you can't beat the price on that 160 NanoTech lipo! |

I just ordered 6 of these.
http://hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store...dProduct=33224 I'd like to go to a 200 or 300 Mah but right now the only charger I have is the one that came with the P-40. |
