Art Tech Waltz

A buddy of mine (still some what of a beginner with little to no RC mechanical skills), who I built a Slow Stick for, asked me a couple of questions regarding this:

http://www.nitroplanes.com/at-22158-...l-rtf-24g.html

I have no experience with this type of craft, but was able to point out a couple of things to him related to the apparent lack of power (small motor and prop size 7x4 vs. the weight of 14.8oz ratios)..........although it is a brushless outrunner and has a lipo 7.4v, 1300mah rating, the esc is only a 10amp....could be a problem if he wanted to modify prop sizes to gain more speed/thrust.

Anyway, I'd like some thoughts on the wing design and how the wing is mounted above the fuselage....what pros/cons on this or anything else?

He's found it a lot cheaper at another web site (same package as link) $98.00 and is ready to take the plunge....I'd just like to steer him in a good direction since he flies the 3ch SS pretty well and is to cheap to get into a decent trainer.......and I'm his resident mechanic......lol

Thanks for any input.....!

Hmmmm....70 pokes at this post so far, not one single opinion.....lol

Geez guys, I'm not asking if anyone owns one of these, just like to know what you think of the design!

Leaning towards telling my buddy to buy it, just so I'll get to play with it.....lol

Thats a good looking bird there, 46+ wingspan at 14 1/2 Oz, I'm liking it, I've been do'in Pod&Boomers for many years and that is the coolist yet, 10 amp ESC sounds a might small though, bubstevehttp://site.hobbypartz.com/pimages/A...-RTF-24G-3.jpg

Thanks Cooper & Robbins.......

Told my SS buddy to go for it.....After he gets it, I'll be back with an up-date. If it flies as I expect, may purchase one for myself....even if I've been saving for the T28...lol

Well, it's been awhile since I reported back on the Waltz......

My buddy recieved the RTF a couple of weeks ago...we got around to putting it together last Sunday night. We bench tested the power system and control surfaces. Had intended to fly it Monday afternoon.....but Steve (my buddy) got called away on a business trip, so he took it with him to Sacramento.

Seems he had an opportunity to get it in the air...and introduced it to some large pines......all he brought back with him was the motor, esc, r/x, servos and some plastic/foam pieces.....with an embarrassed look on his face when I saw him this afternoon and he's not talking much about it yet (wonder why)....lol..........so, I won't be able to report on how it flew (####### it)!....I was waiting for the flight so I could give a full 360 on the darn thing.

But I can tell you that it went together quickly and simple. Fit and finish was very good (but fragile), the 7.4v 1600mAh we used fit in the battery compartment nicely, the surface controls were flexible and smooth and the (static) bench test on the power system at full throttle did not heat up the esc or motor.

Wish I could have flight reported...since I won't be purchasing one. I've decided to save more and get the PZ Trojan PNP or wimp out and get the big Tiger Moth kit....lol...won't need to report on those here at WattFlyer......lol
