Just finished my Dynam T-28 in the jolly Roger scheme and i also painted the gear doors grey and added aircraft number to them. I also added the VF-84 markings. I will be adding one more thing to the nose.

I love it when people take time to take an ARF and make it their own. Any signifigance to the 091? Not a typical navy plane number. She needs VF-84 and a ship name on there.

VFA-103 is based out of NAS Oceana, where my SIL works fixing Hornets.

If you really want to be original, paint your plane in the colors of VFA-143, the Pukin Dogs.

The insignia was supposed to represent a griffin, but the Squadron Commander's wife said that it resembled a pukin dog, and the name stuck.....:p>

The 091 was one of two numbers on the decal sheet im changing them in the future.

Credit to Callie graphics for the jolly Roger decals and to everyone else who i asked for advice and tips. My nose gear doors and airbrake will be posted soon.

BroncoSquid 03-24-2013 04:42 PM

What did you decide to build the gear doors out of?

p3arljam 03-24-2013 04:44 PM

I'm going to try balsa and plastic from a juice container see which works better.

Just found this if you decide yes on sliding cockpit, doesn't seem too much trouble. Process is at Post #9.

I may give it a try the T-28 canopy is made out of flimsy plastic not sure it would be a good idea. I need opinions on the airbrake linkage i was going to use a servo with a stiff pushrod then make the single pushrod into a double like a goal post so that it connects to two control horns on the airbrake so that i have a little more strength when the airbrake is deployed. I'll have two control horns on the airbrake on the left and right side of the airbrake I'm not sure if it will work.
