Turnigy 6XS FHSS Purchase
Well, I finally pulled the plug on a new, programmable TX/RX system.
After having spent endless hours and over 7 months researching all the forums and product web sites related to Spektrum, Futaba, FlySky, Tactic, Turnigy, Hitech, Airtronics, Exceed, HK.....on & on.....I've purchased the Turnigy 6XS FHSS 2.4Ghz.
I've been through the old Exceed PC programmable 6ch 2.4ghz TX/RX school of frustration and the Dynam/FMS DSSS 2.4ghz 4ch (pull a part, swap & re-bind RX) long enough now...lol.
I really did not want to go through another time consuming, memorization, carry the manual in the pocket experience and I really do not need/want all the bells and whistles or cost associated with the "most" popular Spektrum dx6i or dx7 and +$20.00 pop for each R/X.....not that $9.00 for the orange is a problem.
Since I only own (1) 450 heli which I seldom fly, and (3) planes at the moment, all of which are park flyers under 30oz........and my next plane purchase(s) will be the GWS Stearman and the PZ Trojan T-28 PNP, I thought the simplicity and cost of the Turnigy would be good enough to grow with and provide safe and reliable range and performance (based on all I have read and used at the field).......I know two buddies who have either the 6x or 9x and both have had NO issues with either one!
Ya, I went the HK route from China......but was able to pick-up the TX/RX, 2-XR6000 6ch R/X's and 3-Turnigy 30amp esc's with shipping for $126.00.........I would have spent more than that just for a Spektrum, Tactic, Futaba, Airtronics, Hitec....TX!........The FLySky is simular, but I liked the physical size and construction of the Turnigy and the programming logic.
Should be here by next Friday.......I'll post results once I've had time to get acquainted with it........Finally, I can get the two other planes now with what I saved on the TX.........looking forward to that!
OMG....Hobby King has just lost another customer.....me!
Placed the order Thursday afternoon, posted here Friday.......never recieved a "payment" approved transaction confirmation....followed up this morning with HK, got Andy on a live chat line and discussed the issue...with no positive result!
After having gone to Hobby Town and purchased the PZ T-28 PNP this morning, I became concerned that the Turnigy TX6XS would not be compatible with the XR6000 receiver, even though the HK web site states it is.......this after chatting at length with the guys at Hobby Town who actually proved it to me right there in the shop (one of the guys there have one, they don't sell Turnigy).......
Anyway, Andy at HK would not work with me on modifying my order since payment was still "pending"....so while I was on-line with him I contacted my bank and asked if the HK transaction had been cleared (there's $$$ in the account to cover it)......the bank tells me they have nothing from HK......So I explain that to Andy and ask him if HK has any compatible 6ch receivers that are not on back-order that I could purchase on the same order and delete the others......
The guy kept me on-line for over 20min, then came back and stated that he could not make the change because........from the on-line transcript "Andy: I would like to inform you that locating your transaction is difficult without any details from your credit card provider."......then he went on to state........."Andy: Yes we may provide the cancellation of your order since you've made an incorrect input regarding on your order."..........What...? I made an incorrect input.....?
So I just simply said...."pizzano: The input I made was correct........your web site states that the receiver's I ordered were compatible with the transmitter I also purchased......it was only after I checked with my LHS that I found out the two were not compatible......anyway, please cancel the order now and please send me an E-mail confirmation today that the order has been canceled and my payment will not be processed."
This whole discussion took over 45min. and not once did this guy spend any time trying to find out if they had a receiver in stock that would work!
Well, I'm a Spektrum guy now....went back to Hobby Town and picked up a DX6i with an AR6210....guess I'll never know how the Turnigy would have worked for me.....just as well, now I'm just another guy with a Spektrum.....lol. At least there's plenty of support surrounding me!....and another learning curve to over come.....!
Very sad ..... shame on HK ...
The Rx ... no way will AR Rx's work with it and HK if they say it does - are wrong.
It was the Turnigy XR6000 receivers that I purchased which were not compatible with the Turnigy 6XS transmitter....which the web site states are compatible....evidently the (S) indicates a S-FHSS system, not the standard FHSS. This was pointed out to me at the LHS.......since it is a Futaba prioratized system which now comes either FHSS, S-FHSS or FASST........the web site also indicated that every Turnigy they sell that was also compatible were on back-order, and we all know BO's at HK can take up to 6 months to fill.......I'm not a patient man, BO's are out of the question......lol
I had also purchased 3 Turnigy ESC's and several servos.....what really surprised me was the fact that Andy did not spend anytime trying to find me other receivers (salesmanship 101)....I would have settled for the "S-FHSS Orange".....but he was determined to hassle me about the credit card info......lol....this after I had just made a purchase last month with them (same credit card) without any issues!
Guess it wasn't meant to be....Spektrum had my name on their list and won out....lol
make you wonder what Futaba is thinking of having no backward/forward or upward/downward compatibility between it's 2.4GHz protocols.. hardly any wonder it gets confusing.
I wonder if they do it to make it that much harder on the cloning companies?
