Piper L1 construction questions
I recently received the 71.5 " wingspan "ARF" piper L1 kit
from Nitroplanes- the hinges that come with it are cloth- would think nylon
"real" hinges would be better ? Also the "instructions" ( photcopied pictures)
show 2 degrees downthrust but NO right thrust ? Has anyone here built
this kit or similar ?

I don't know this specific model but cloth hinges would be very unusual. The norm on most models these days are 'CA' hinges that are made from a tough but flexible plastic (mylar?) core with a thin cloth like coating on both sides that allows CA glue to 'wick' into the hinge slot and make a strong joint.
CA hinges generally work fine. You need thin type CA to glue them but you need to be careful that it doesn't run all over the place. A cloth soaked in acetone (nail varnish remover) will take CA off if it does run, but test the acetone to make sure it doesn't damage the surface finish/covering.
If it were my model I'd put in 2 or 3 deg of right thrust.
Thank you, yes they are the flexible plastic and was wondering about the ca as well,it used to be nylon/metal pin hinges and epoxy, been away too long-lol.
Was also thinking 2-3 right thrust, you confirmed my suspicion, I will add some kind
of removeable "shim" at firewall untill I get set-up correct.
I am going to use the kit supplied ones being that their mounting points are nicely slotted and seem to be more than usual for surface area. Also going to order the servos, motor, bec....
and maybe ( probably next month) the cellpro 8 charger. Going to stick with seperate receiver pack ( old school, I know). In the meantime I plan to
take pictures during progress but will not post untill finished-old/slow builder. LOL
