EXPO RATES on PKZ EXTRA 300
Recently bought a Extra 300 and curious about EXPO Rates. The manual suggest:
40% on Low Rate for Ailerons, Elevator, and Rudder
55% on High Rate for Ailerons
70% on High Rate for Elevator
45% on High Rate for Rudder
Low Rate = 70% Travel
High Rate = 100% Travel
Push Rods in Outermost on Servo Arms, and Innermost of the Control Horns for maximum control throw distance.
Does this sound right, and what are your preferences?
It's a personal thing, what feels 'right' to me might seem horribly twitchy to you, and vice-versa.
What's suggested in the manual looks like a reasonable starting place but if you havent flown a aerobatic model before I'd suggest having the low rates set lower for the first few flights.
The advise about using outer hole on servo arm and inner on horn is ok if you want maximum travel at the expense of control precision, and providing your servos are up to the job (it puts a lot of stress on the servos). You might be better off starting on the outer holes at both ends and only moving inward on the horn when/if you feel that your high rates don't offer enough control authority.
