Generic Versions of glues ............
Ok - I will start the ball rolling with my local PU Wood Glue ....
One on left : 750gr (abt 700ml) costs $12
GG on right : 275ml cost me $18 (posted in)
Both are exterior grade, both waterproof once set, both set by moisture action, both expand approx. 4x ... in fact they are same glue ... different packaging.
Anyone else with similar they can pass on ?
Been using this stuff for a while. Somewhat like like the old glue we used to use on the plastic models. Used to come in some of the foam kits from GWS in smaller tubes. Very messy but sticks like snot to a ceiling:D Good for installing hinges etc.
I read the link you provided and they had this written there, while also reminding me of your ceiling comment.
From HK's link:
According to the label, you shouldn't smoke, but it's okay to use an umbrella while applying this glue.
Too bad they didn't warn me to put an umbrella above the paint can that I tried to unclog a while back, giving up and placing it back on the shelf without the nozzle. It unclogged itself later that night, and here's the result on the ceiling: :Q
Titebond, and yellow carpenter glue. Both work very well for 95% of the glue jobs required on balsa and plywood.
Woa Guys .... think point may have been missed ....
I'm looking to create a listing of GENERIC versions of Brand Name Glues ... ie to help us all keep our costs down !!
We all have favourite glues for jobs ... that's not the point.
So please if you have a specific glue that you know is same as a Brand name but cheaper etc. - then please let us all know.
Apologies to LHS and Brand Names ... but be honest how much longer can such branding continue ?
