Interested to compile a list of 9x derivatives / recase / relabel / rebrand
The standard 9x has been around for some time now and has been used as base for many radios suplied with RTF and other gear. We know of the Eurgle, Turnigy, WTF9, Imax, relabeled.
What I would like is to hear from others about other labels it sits under.
There are specific items that identify the 9x base system :
a) 9ch's with PCM, but 8 when PPM
b) Usually still has fittings for FM antena or antena itself.
c) LCD display centre bottom of radio
d) 4 quadrant circular UP/DOWN/LEFT/RIGHT command keys
Lets put together the list ... and if people can suggest radios ... then we compare items to nail down the 9x connection or not.
Have you seen this web site:
I ran across this when I was shopping and info gathering for the Turnigy transmitters.
Seems it's related to the some of the 9x base format and firmware!
I'm asware of the er9x etc. .... but what I'm looking for here is to build up a list of radios that are actually the 9x but rebadged / recased etc. The reflash jobs are not what I am after !
Curious as to what you will do with this list when it is complete.

9X - FlySky/iMax/Turnigy/Eurgle FOR DUMMIES
Quick summary that will explain a lot
BTW Nigel, be careful you don't get info about radios that are not in your target group.
does this include the Turnigy 9XR?
What about the Hitec Aurora 9X?
Or the Spektrum DX9
And JR has had several radio that have been called 9X
The use of the "9X" is not unique to the radio you are asking about. I think you want to be more specific in your first post.
I think the base or original radio that you are asking about is the Fly Sky TH9X.
Thanks AEAJR for the links. I have one question that maybe you could help me with. I'm a noob and have a Turnigy 9x coming from HK. What is the difference between the 9x and the 9xR? Just software?
Loved all the links for the 9x in the Dummies link!
Points noted ... and yes - I am looking for all rebadged of the FlySky 9x ...
There are more rebadged out there than many realise ...
The er9x project is well known and yes I was aware of it. I am also aware that the 9xr owes a lot to the er9x people but fails to give them credit.
To the question of how different is the 9xr to the 9x ... RCModelreviews has done that ... and as I see it :
9xr has an internal antenna set in the handle
9xr has the backlight
9xr has the er9x firmware installed
9xr has a new slimmer style case
apart from that ... most likely not much else different.
For some time the 9XR has been shipping with Atmega 128 processors instead of the 9x's Atmega 64; more memory. The 9XR also has replacement parts available (gimbals, boards, and switches). A port for the programmer is built in.
The 9x has better ergonomics, the top switches on the 9XR are unreachable with your hands on the sticks. Menu switches are different too. To date, no module is available that uses the internal antenna (though developers of the 9XR pro have them so a DSMX module should come out soon.)
