what to get with this plane
I am going to soon buy the apprentice S for about $300.
I know I am going to need at least one battery.
Should I get more?
Should I buy a different charger then comes with it?
If yes what kind?
Should I get bigger tires?
Extra rubber bands ?
Anything I am not thinking of?
I am trying to figure out my TRUE finial costs.
Hi TBrooks, you made a wise choice stopping by!
Take a look at this link.......it will help......
If this is the only plane you plan to own for a long time, the included charger should be fine. If not, what are your plans. You need to match the charger to the battery packs you plan to fly.
Extra battery packs? Well, do you want to charge at home and bring a box of batteries or will you charge at the field?
Are you a 2 flight guy or do you fly all day?
Extra rubber bands? This is a $1 issue, why even ask?
Tape, glue, hobby knife, pliers, toolbox, other tools
cooler with water and drinks,
cell phone in case you get hurt
Never fly without sunglasses AND a hat with a brim.
And the list can go on and on.
> Hat, Sunglasses, what else?
How did I miss this post? I still have my original Apprentice after 6+ years. Yes, buy a box of rubber bands! And as AEAJR already pointed out, much of the rest depends on you, but I would definitely get at least one more battery. When I just had the one, I joked when people ask how long it takes to charge, my answer was 'just until it's too windy to fly!' But now it's my favorite to fly in high winds. It's a great plane. Enjoy!
yes, you want at least 2 battery packs. you might want 5.
When flying my Aerobirds and my other parkflyers I would bring 2 chargers and 5 battery packs and could stay in the air with no more than a lunch break.
Now that I fly gliders most of the time one battery pack lasts 1 -4 hours.
I think the Apprentice's foam is EPO... not sure. If so you can use normal CA. Test a SMALL drop on a small scrap of foam cut from where it won't hurt anything. (Usually the inside of a hatch. or the fuselage floor near the battery)
Most important will be the bands, spare batteries and charger. They let you get in more flying time.
I use #64 rubber bands. you can get them in walmart office supplies section. just make sure they are not old and rotted.
