Help with modified stryker setup
I have had my stock stryker c for a few years now and just got back into flying it.
I had it out on the weekend and guess i should have checked it over before flying it. Got it up in the air for a few minutes full throttle and no issues. Sent it straight up and cut the throttle and the prop apparently fell off. I coasted back in safely and now i am looking for more out of the plane.
Basically i would like to know someones bulletproof complete setup giving speed and a little bit of flight time. the stryker frame is stock
I have looked online for complete setups but usually one thing is missed. if you have some good links with all the information that would be good as well.
looking for something that can be run with 3s - 5s
Budget would be 200 to 400 or more, depending.
info i am looking for in the setup
not sure if the stock radio trans/receiver is good or if you can recommend a good replacement for it as well. just in case the speed increase takes the plane to the outer boundaries of reception.
i have plans to buy the custom motor mount kit from customrcparts
I modified my Stryker C a few years ago by removing the fuselage and cutting a couple of inches from the wingtips. I put a Mega 16/15/4 motor with an APC 6x4 sport prop, 45a esc, and 2200mAh 4s battery on it and it's the perfect setup. 3 years later, I'm still getting consistant 125-130mph level speed passes with it. It has plenty of thrust and will climb to a speck in just seconds. The motor and battery are barely warm after full-throttle runs. I found my motor on the RCG classifieds for $50 shipped.
Here's a video I made of it after just one flight. I was still a little bit scared of it at the time ....
Thank you very much for your information Murman. It looks like a perfect setup. what model of esc are you running? I am sure i would have to order something from the US to have a half decent price tag. Could i just run a bigger esc or that would change the whole setup?
One question to you would be if i can throw in a 3s with the same setup without changing anything (prop/etc) and have it work?
This would be for when the 4s is charging as i have the stock 3s battery for a touring flight...
Now i have to go search for ways to keep the stock canopy/battery/esc cover from coming off.
Thanks to you as well for the reply mclarkson. i have been through that thread a little and its alot to take in. I was just looking for a tryed tested and true setup without issues as i have limited time on the hobby field and at home to test setups.
Sho, I'm using a Castle Ice 50a esc with my setup. They're not cheap, but they are the best esc on the market.
A great alternative is the Turnigy dlux esc. I've heard great things about them and they are much cheaper.
Here is a great deal on a Mega 16/15/4...
