Bee-One scratchbuild wing
No plan ... no drawing ..... just knife, straight edge and PU glue ...
Span : 930mm
Root chord : 190mm
Tip chord : 140mm
Nose length 120mm
Max depth : 90mm
Wing Root depth : 50mm
Wing tip depth : 10mm
Intended power plant : E-Max 2805 + 6x4 + 1300 - 1800 3S. Nothing spectacular - first I want to see if it flies.
Materials : 6mm + 3mm floor foam sheet + PU glue.
Neat build but 50mm root depth on 190mm root chord.
That is a thickness cord ratio of 26.3% and on a flat bottomed(?) wing as well which pretty thick by anyone's measure.
You will still get lift over that part of the wing but my guess is there will be drag in almost equal measure suggesting the 2805 and battery will have to work quite hard.
What kV is 2805?
As I say - it was without plans ... the depth at root was a bit of a mistake... I meant to trim back to flatten the spar .. but got carried away by sheeting up ...
The wing is hoped to fly slow ... and is reason for flat bottom etc.
The 2805 is 2900kv ....
You might find a 6x4 on a 3s draws rather to many amps (max is 13A).
I run mine on a 5x3 3 blade but on a 2s.
As with most 'wings' the problem is not the drag so much as stability or rather how the CofP moves with changes in angle of attack. With such a thick & unusual section wing I would not even like to guess what will happen.
All you can do is 'try it and see'!
The main is to get her in the air ... after that I will sort ...
All points noted !
mmmmmm nights sleep and all sorts of ideas through head ...
The power side does seem a bit lacking ! So dig into my boxes and out comes my old 222kph motor .... 3700kv Westor Heli motor ...
Now that was a high drain jobbie on a 5x5 ... in fact for the 222 run - I had to pray the ESC would last long enough to complete the two runs and speed checks.
If I now fit with a lesser prop ... maybe 4.1 x 4.1 or a 4.5 x 4.5 ... I should bring down the amps to more manageable ... it also gives me possibility to hit a 2S with bigger prop ...
Food for thought.
Here's progress and you can see that the deep centre section should allow me to play battery location nicely ..... and of course the nose will be lifting body as well ...
edited out ....
Checked another motor 1800kv - poor !!
Nope ... no good ... back to search for reasonable budget motor ...
