help with radjet 800 setup
Default please help with motor esc and lipo setup.
Hi all. I have a radjet 800 from hobbyking. I have fitted a 2836 3000kv propdrive motor, 80 amp esc and 2200 4 cell 70c lipo running a 4.75x4.75 prop. The motor gets very hot and im only getting 3 mins flight time before the lipo has 10% left. Am I doing something wrong. Should I use a smaller prop? Any help would be great.
There's nothing wrong with the result you are getting .... basically the motor is not designed for such treatment .... put a 3S pack on it and it will be a lot kinder ... cooler.
check out the reviews / comments on the motor ...
Some are just rubbish ... but generally even the HK blurb shows HIGH amp draw on such motor ... I know its true as I use similar motors / set-ups ion my High speed jobs ... and in fact my twin Parkjet using twin 3000kv's only gives me just over 1min run !
I just test flew my friend's, stock motor and esc, and got about 8 minutes with the 1300 or 1600 mah battery they recommended. It was plenty fast stock. The only problem we found was that it was a little nose heavy so we trimmed in a lot of up. He called earlier and said he did a little trimming and now has the BP right where it's suppose to be.
I liked it so much I ordered one, seems to be a nice model.:)
Just done a speed run with a gps logger and max speed was 285kph 175mph. Everything was cool to the touch so will try a bigger pitch. Should get a bit more.
GPS loggers will usually calculate data over 1 or 2 secs duration of position to position ...
If you have any possibility to observe a GPS plotter ... you will see the position drifting about even when GPS item is stock still ... this brings in serious errors on the above calculations. Reliable GPs readings need to be from averaged systems that take all data calculations and create an event to average out ...
GPS happens to be a pet subject of mine as a Professional Navigator ... and founder of various GPS forums ...
It's great quoting speeds and hope you get higher ... but this is a personal request ... keep it to straight and levels ... that way is a true comparison with others ... ie ... my claim is 222kph with the Parkjet, but I know that it's actually flown far higher speed than that but the higher speed was discounted due to the dive in the flight ...
The better speed determination to avoid such errors is the Doppler or Speed Gun ...
