If you have enough depth to be able to create a very thin slit - then disc material from old Computer floppy discs is excellent. Very thin, very flexible, glues well. It not only serves micro models but also larger as well ...

I go back to when they were using 8 inch diameter floppies at work!

The 5 and 3 inch diameter floppies followed years afterward.

Ah yes
I still remember those giant reel to reel backup drives our IT department used to backup the entire plant's file servers every night.

They came in handy on a regular basis.
