Japan has a new modern flying boat. The US-2. Saw it in a T V special program. Rescued fisherman in 4 meter waves. Nice video.

Started as the US-1 in 1968.

Shin Meiva ?? company.

Shin-Meiwa US-2

Hi All,

I too have found the Shin Meiwa US-2 Patrol/Rescue Flying boat very interesting . It looks allot like a Martin Marlin flying boat but, the Shin-Meiwa is a whole new design. It has STOL capabilities allowing it to operate in the open ocean in seas of up to 3m wave height. It can land at speeds of only 40kts .

It is an impressive aircraft that solves allot of problems that makes other flying boats obsolete.
