HobbyKing Q450 build, battery question

I have an electric plane, and I was thinking of diving into something hoverable. I really like the DIY-ability of the quadrotor, so here's what I was thinking:

Quote:

$12 - HobbyKing Q450 V3 frame
$30 - HobbyKing KK2.1 flight controller
$13 x 4 - Turnigy Plush 25A ESC
$7 - Turnigy BESC programming card
$16 x 4 - Turnigy Aerodrive SK3, 2822-1090kv motors
$4 - SF 8x4.5 props 4 pack
$10 x 2 - Zippy 3S 25C 2200mAh
$54 - Turnigy 9X with module
Does this sound viable? I found a similar build online to start with.

Battery question - I have a 3S 25C 1300mAh battery for my airplane. Is there something I could modify on the quad to run the same batteries as the plane? It is a StevensAero Squirt with a 400XT 1000kv brushless I believe.

Thanks.

I would use the Afro 30 amp esc much better with simonk firm ware.
as for Battery you will need 2200 or bigger or you won't get any flight time
30c or better quads like to pull amps

But... Warthox does 20A ESC per motor, max.

Maybe I should consider some of his components - perhaps frame, ESCs, and motors?

Are people having good luck with the Turnigy 9X and/or 9XR radios?

Is this the biggest DIY quad I can buy?

No, you can buy massive hex (6) and oct (8) rotors if you have the money to spare, for instance: http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s..._TL100B01.html

By the way... you could use your 1300mAh batteries (assuming you have more than one) no problem at all. Just connect them up with a parallel lead to make 2600mAh (or wire three for 3900mAh etc.). But batteries are so cheap these days I'd probably just buy a new one.
