I'm back in the saddle again working full time as a Project Manager / Estimator.
Not much time for scratch-building but more money for the Hobby.
Here are some of my recent acquisitions.

Second flight of my Dynam P-51D

Maiden flight of my DYANM C-47.
Such a smooth flying plane.

DYNAM Corsair maiden flight. Notice how DYNAM installed the retracts reversed left to right. Wheels are in-board when they should be outboard. Grayson Hobby sent me new wings and gear.

Not a DYNAM but a real sweet flyer is the ART TECH Hawker Hurricane. Having problems with the spinner and prop. I've since installed a 30A ESC and put a two blade prop and spinner on it.

maiden flight of my DYNAM Supermarine Spitfire. Where they came up with the paint scheme I dunno. To cold to paint her right now but it's gonna happen.
Installed the 30A ESC in the ventral nose for cooling. She is flying with a 2200mah 3S. I'm installing a 50A ESC for her 4S power upgrade. I had placed an extra 3oz. of weight in her nose. this made her too nose heavy and prone to tip-overs.

Second flight of the Hawker Hurricane now with her prop / spinner upgrade from an 11 x6x3 to an 11x7. All but one of the three small screws holding the motor to the fire wall pulled out. so the flight was a short one. I put some new and larger screws in for next time.

Bob,

I have both the Dynam and Durafly Spitty's. On the Dynam , did you do the rake mod for the LG ? Really made a difference. I have mine set up with a 60amp esc and am running a 40C 3300mah 4S lipo. Comes to life.

A good Dynam Spitfire thread over on RCG: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1451464

I also have the Dynam FW-190. Pretty good but lacks scale.

i have the Dynam P-51 & the T-28

the P-51 is one of my favorites !!!

fhhuber 04-18-2014 03:07 AM

Drop a 4S 3300 in the Dynam P-51... Slight foam carving to make it fit. No other changes needed. (I carved mine to allow a 4S 5000 and that still works fine just a little heavy)

I also made the flaps functional.

I bent them until they just cleared the existing wheel wells. No more. I need to do more research on this.
I am going to install a 50A ESC for the 4S li-po.

I installed a 50A ESC in the ventral nose of my P-51 so I could use the 4S Li-Po too. I think it flies better on the 4S.
I want to make the flaps functional as well.

If paranoid about cooling in the P-51... open the scale chin cowl and make a scale air exit at the back of the belly air scoop. Very easy.

The original ESC handles the 4S just fine. Don't even have to change the prop (though I'm looking for a 4-blade prop and spinner set)

The added weight of 4S 3300 vs original 3S 2000 actually helps the P-51's glide also.

Brick 04-20-2014 02:37 AM

i tried 4 of the Dynam 3 blade props..i could not get any of them to balance properly. the vibrations were extreme. tried a dubro spinner(balanced)...could not get the vibrations out ? i had to go to a 2 blade to get my P-51 in the air

on the dynam 3 blade props...seems like atleast one blade was atleast 5mm higher (sitting flat) than the other two ?

fhhuber 04-20-2014 02:48 AM

Yes, the Dynam props and spinners need balancing... and balancing a 3 (or 4) blade prop is an art form that most people avoid.

It doesn't take long to do the balancing if you know how. You can use the same technique as with a 2-blade and get it really close. Mount the prop in a balancer (or put it on a rod that fits the hole for the hub and support on 2 matched water glasses) and add paint to the light blade on the back side (which will go to the top)|

I got lazy and drilled the center of my spinner so I could balance it in the same manner.

Brick 04-20-2014 03:13 AM

i have a magnetic balancer, i have balanced alot of props, even edf fans to perfection. but like i said i could not get the dynams to balance because of the blade tracking being WAY off. i might have gotten a bad batch of 3 blades?

fhhuber 04-20-2014 03:17 AM

The plastic is subject to deformation from heat... probably it was held twisted when it was hot.

That may or may not be correctable.

Bobdaeronort 04-20-2014 04:50 AM

I got my Spitfire sorted out with a new prop, Dubro Spinner and landing strut adjustments for a great couple of flights today.

Bobdaeronort 04-20-2014 05:05 AM

Flying my Hawker Hurricane today. Finally got the vibration cured with a good 11x7 APC prop and Dubro spinner as well as replacing the aileron servos. She was just barreling along when I realized on a low pass that she was heading right for a light pole. I managed to miss the pole but not the ground breaking her nose off and dismounting her motor. No worries as I'm taking this opportunity to upgrade her motor to a 450 and mount her ESC ventrally either on the nose or in her belly air scoop and reinforce her fuse.
Sorry there was an ID10T error with my Go-Pro so no video.

Bought a new range for the upstairs apartment and made a handy plane stacker out of half the box. If I keep going I'm gonna need another one. Maybe two.

Wrongway-Feldman 04-21-2014 01:18 PM

I miss my dynam c-47. It looks amazing on low passes and is such a pleasure to fly.

Bobdaeronort 04-22-2014 01:31 AM

Back out early to catch the calm morning air.

Looks Very Sweet!! My Father bought one very recently but has not assembled her yet..... I recently bought and assembled a Dynam Albatros... Beautiful plane yet no Maiden yet.... Does that C47 fly as agile and stable as she looks? I know Dynam has some awesome aircraft

Nicely produced video Bob!

Love the orchestration and timing. A lot of nice drama to it.
