Portuguese navy unveils it new drone.. oh dear.

Live TV, dignitaries, all the navy top brass... Well you can guess what's gonna happen:
YouTube Video
ERROR: If you can see this, then YouTube is down or you don't have Flash installed.

A coconut to the first one who spots what went wrong. (Clue: watch the ninja's feet.)

Reversed elevator

Almost as good as the LA county Sheriff doing their drone demo... splatting the plane on live TV... after the FAA had told them they had no authority or permission to fly the drone at all.

That's what I thought at first, but no, it's funnier than that. You need to look close.

fhhuber 04-28-2014 07:11 PM

Give that man a coconut:D

The ninja actually hit himself in the back of the head with the stab when he launched it:D I'm guessing he'll be peeling a lot of potatoes for the foreseeable future.

I'm just wondering wh ythey had to get such a running start to launch. Should be able to just toss it out standing still. If not, they need a bigger lipo, maybe up it from 4 to 5 cells. :p>

I'm sure their high tech design department is on it as we speak.

I had a profile F-22 that would still take off even if I pulled it BACKWARD on launch rather than throwing it :D

i felt bad for them,i looked at the generals, and vip folks making news about a drone that looks as if it came from hobbyking:roll:. i think we are more advanced with our programable quads fpv'ing or just sending out with set coordinaces and return home features.:Q

i also hate the term drone...our hobby of fpv'ing doesn't make me think drones. this is what makes me think drone[popcorn],

R&D, survivability, simplicity, capability, support, logistics, and a host of other things ;)

That's where my first rc plane, the Cloud Fly from HK, went after it was too damaged to fix!! Knew someone found it the trash. They just painted it.

fhhuber 04-29-2014 02:52 AM

The difference between that military camera drone and our models is in the electronics and the battery.

They have a much better battery capacity... but its one use.

Their electronics involves satellite communication and they can fly the thing from a facility just outside Las Vegas when it is launched in Afghanistan.

thepiper92 04-29-2014 02:56 AM

Gonna suck if someone hacks into things.

tobydogs 04-29-2014 03:31 AM

dang....it was a joke question:D:Q,i didn't really expect a list of differences:ws:.

in the famous words of Foghorn Leghorn.......

"JK GANG!"JUST KIDDING GANG!

FlyWheel 04-29-2014 04:42 AM

Well personally I wouldn't worry to much about a NAVY that cant even properly launch an EasyStar...

pizzano 04-29-2014 06:43 AM

Got to agree with Flywheel....not much to worry about....

One would have to be pretty naive to actually state the only difference between what the U.S., Russia, Japan, Great Britian, and a handfull of tiny Asian off-shoots have over the Portuguese's is "electronics, battery and satellite communication".............got the Foghorn analogy..:D

Didn't take a "coconut" to build or R & D.......;-)

Fun anyway to watch!

CHELLIE 04-29-2014 06:46 AM

Now, thats Funny :D :D :D

Maybe ... but don't forget - THEY were discovering the world long before USA was even discovered ...
They ran a Colonial Empire before anyone set foot on any American soil.

True that world has turned over since then ... yesterdays superpowers are todays has-beens ..

Not sure about that, consider that there were peoples populating North America long before it was 'discovered'.

You know what I mean .. we all know there were 'Native Americans' ... possibly Vikings ...

Native Americans .. sorry if I find that term a bit condescending ... but of course we have to be politically correct !

The Romans, Turks, Britiish Empire, The French, The Dutch and Spaniards were all Superpowers , later the Germans, US , Soviet Union and now China. There were traders, invaders, conqueror's but today there is really only one protector.

You forgot one major empire......the Mongol's (1206 to 1368).......;)

If one considers it.....we are related, to some extent, to just a handle full of ancient cultures super powers.......even a few "native" species...:D
