Would like to find plans for these
A local club member found a guy making these in his garage.
They have become popular in our club and we flew 4 of them for a night demonstration at the local airshow May 2. :D
I could get ambitious and reverse-engineer for the plans... or maybe someone has a set already.
As received these were unpainted and had no landing gear. I devised the landing gear system myself. Very minor effect on performance and eliminated the issues associated with hand launching under the stress of the airshow demo (several thousand people watching...)
But they did come with LED system installed (I added some to this one and my solder work wasn't as neat as by the guy who made the "ARF")
Unfortunately the maker got deployed overseas, so we can't get any more. :sad:
If you have jpg or such looking straight down and know the WS shouldn't be hard to do up a plan....post what you have if you can't find a plan and I'll see what I can do....
Motor typically used is 2814-06 (28mm by outside dia of bell, not the stator) with 6X4 prop.
About 300 to 325 watts on 3S 1800 mah. (one of the other guys did put a wattmeter on his)
I stuck a 2814-06 http://www.bphobbies.com/view.asp?id...7&pid=B1898545 (28mm by the stator) on one and no wattmeter reading but expect its pushing the motor's listed rating hard on 3S 1800mah with 8X4E APC.... and the motor is very cool. Roughly 3X the weight of the recommended motor. This one scoots really quick, but only flies about 5 min per charge.
Span is 37 in, length is 24 in.
Uses a triangle of appx 1/4 inch dowels to stiffen the wing.
REALLY cheap foam used to make it.
As I noted, I could work up plans in a couple of hours by taking measurements. Plotting all the LED holes would be the hard part.
I'm already recruiting for next year's airshow night flight team. Hoping to get 6 or 8 of them buzzing around at once.
