Motor for Max Thrust Riot
Now, all you leccy peoples.... Whats a good alternative... Its 850kv I need a bit more sparkle but not 3D! It has a 5mm shaft which is nice and strong, but if it noses over that bell housing shifts backwards and jams on the chassis - as mine has!
So.. any suggestions?
Well that was a bit dumb!
It was a bit vague, wasn't it?
Here some gen...
3cell 2200mah Lipo
Current prop = 10x8
Its the shape of the motor that puzzles me...
I just wondered if anyone had fitted anything else, although I cant find much on the web.
Yep - 4cell pack, and smaller (coarser?) prop may give it a bit of oomph... 4cell however is a right squeeze... I dont fancy buying one only to find it won't fit!
Perhaps I'm unfairly likening it to my old WOT4 Foam-e, which had the capacity to go almost vertical out of the box. But the Riot is heavier....
A friend has a Max Thrust Riot and wanted more power. He contacted the manufacturer and was told that it is designed to run on both 3 and 4 cell batteries with considerably more power from the 4 cell.
riot motor upgrade.
Here is my solution. Remove existing motor, remove lightly glued in demountable steel weight (63 gr).Glue in suitable piece of wood to replace steel weight. This foam will melt. use uhu por or simmilar.Replace existing esc with 60a, fit hk turnigy G 15 950 kv to pre marked positions (but previously unused) on firewall ,you will need suitable twist drill to pilot holes for self tappers. Fit original 5ml prop adapter with apc 12x6 e or original prop. There will now be 12ml gap between rear of spinner and cowl. plane is now too tail heavy so use 35 gr lead in the front of battery bay if on 2200 3s, or no lead and a 3000 mah turnigy 3s 20c(some others may also fit) . This flies fine for me. My guess is this was as originally intended. Check that vertical tail fin is actually glued to its plastic mounting --it is most probably only held by the paint !
Still not a fireball, but imo a very worthwhile improvement to a nice looking plane.
